Sounds like they are asking a lot for a 29-year-old player at the deepest position in the league that has never been an all-star himself.
Not surprised. Nobody is gonna offer an allstar caliber player for a possible rental. They'll come down. Or they won't and they'll lose him for nothing.

Starting negotiations at DMo/Pels Pick really shouldn't surprise anybody. Why would they come out and say "we'll take role player + 2nd rounder." When I put my house on the market, it'll be X% above what my real target price is, as I know the buyer will want to negotiate as well and will lowball me - ideally, we would meet in the middle.
...that's going to be a free agent. Good for them aiming high (but good luck) And more power to them if they want to keep him and potentially see him walk. Or more power to them if they want to lock up three point guards! (but your GM or president already said your roster balance is off)
Good luck with that, given the contract situation. Boston didn't get this for Rondo in the most recent comparable trade situation. But hey, it's reasonable for them to say this. Just negotiations.
Couldn't you see morey leaking that (his interpretation of them requesting DMo = "player with all star potential") to thin out the market for Goran?
It's obvious from the Suns posturing that there isn't a competitive market for Goran. Strike 1: He's expiring Strike 2: He's a 7-year vet eligible for a higher max extension with multiple teams with cap pace waiting to pick him up for nothing. Strike 3: No trade market for Isaiah Thomas We're going to have to wait until the very end Thursday to see if a team pops up with a better offer than what Morey has on the table or to see if Morey takes a sharp left and goes in a different direction. Suns are playing with fire. If Morey decides to move to other targets they're in big trouble.
