Morey tried very hard to negotiate a new deal with dragic and spent multiple days working with agent. Ultimately money just didn't think dragic was a star and didn't want to lock himself into a non star with a player option.
So from the tweets about Gogi only staying with Suns if they allow him to play like he did last year. If the Rockets trade for Gogi and make him play off the ball, he will leave the Rockets in the summer. He doesn't want to be playing the same way like he is doing now in Phoenix.
Potentially. That pick can turn into a player much better than Ariza but it can also be a bust. And you just said it, the NOP pick is a much more valuable trade asset than Ariza. Why not use the trade asset now to upgrade this year's team? Bottom line, the Harden-Howard championship window is not getting any bigger. It is slipping day by day with Howard's health. This year may be the only year to contend in the Harden-Howard era; Harden is having a MVP season, Howard should be back in time for the playoffs and we actually have depth and quality reserves. Who knows how long Howard last or if we can retain Brewer and Smith past this season? Not saying we should put all our eggs in this year's basket but trading away a big piece to our team in Ariza in favor of keeping an asset that won't help us this season in that NOP pick is just plain dumb.
Dragic will not be playing off the ball if he were traded here. He would be relieving Harden of pg duties.
Didn't Cyberx say that Goran was looking forward to sticking it to the Rockets? Does anyone else recall that?
I still prefer lawson to tragic in terms of adding flexibility moving forward....but as players for this team i think Dragic is just the perfect fit, and makes a perfect combination along with beverly I also agree that keeping ariza this year is much wiser than keeping the NOP pick...simply put not one person who is avaialbe that we can acquire can come close to mimicking what ariza does for this team, with tragic i think he will be ever more imp.
So far in this thread we have traded all of our players at least once except Harden. ClutchFantasyThread continues!
We want a pass first point guard who can shoot right? Doesn't Dragic only have like 4 APG compared to Lawson's 8?
he also plays on a team with 2 other starting-caliber PGs. he gets much less opporunity to create assists than lawson. that being said, i do think dragic has more of a scorer's mentality than lawson, however with the our current roster, that may not be a bad thing.
He's stuck playing the SG role on his team with 2 other PG's who play keep-away. When he gets to actually play PG his assist numbers are more than solid.
Totally different systems. Look at his numbers last year and in 2012-13 when he had no competition for PG duties http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/dragigo01.html
