I could see that. Depending on price it could be a good value proposition too.

Agreed, I'd take DWill simply because they would both be FA at the end of the year and (if it doesn't work out) we could make a run at Dragic and work out a S+T with the Suns for potentially less than what it would cost at the deadline.

How much do you think DMO will be paid next year? I say near market max.

The Rockets are not going to trade away Dwight Howard.

The changes of signing Josh Smith? He is still getting paid by the Pistons and will be for some time now. Soooo, he might take less than "market level" to stay in a situation that he feels comfortable in. If Josh works out well for the Rockets this season they could offer Josh their MLE next year and that very well might be enough to keep him.

There is literally ZERO percent chance of both of those things happening together, and probably close to zero that Dwight is traded. Smith signing here is 50/50.

lol no way. The only reason why Markieff is such a bargain is because his brother is severely overpaid. They negotiated their contracts together.
Not to account for the rising cap and inflation.

    Glad you aren't the GM.

wasting max money on players like that would kill a franchise.

It's a rookie max not a vet max and too bad that the price will be affected by the market. So even if you find it stupid if some team throw him such an offer the Rockets can only match.
He will be one of the best young center that will hit the market. Teams will throw him money.

Cody Zeller is missing on one of these lists. And yes, he is better than DMo.

DMo won't get more than 11 million a year.

I personally think he is an 6-9 million a year guy and that still would make me cringe on a team like ours.

Monroe and Kanter who are worse than DMO with serious flaw in their game are going to try for 11+ per at least. Otherwise there can be a trend of young big men taking their QO to get paid. I wonder how much a bargaining chip this is with DMO. I bet it's huge becaue of how much Morey values flexibility and trades.

I don't know. If he becomes a better rebounder and develops a midrange game, he could easily get 11 mil/yr.

His level of bad team defence? His level of mediocre passing ?...Dmo is ahead of Monroe. The number one asset of a center is defence and Monroe is not good.

Too valuable to trade for Dragic...not worth any other team paying. Clutchfans logic.

I don't make the rules of free agency so don't look at me like I'm an alien. In most cases young centers who have shown significant improvement in their games and have acquired skill are overpaid. It all depends on the market and right now the market is in serious demand of centers.
What other center will hit the market at the time of DMO is the question.
