What is the problem people have with Isaiah Thomas? I don't think he's overpaid at all. He gets to the line (6.4 FTA's per 36 minutes), great finisher (66.1% for career), creates for others (6.5 assists per 36 minutes last year), and......oh yeah......he's a plus defender this year (holding players he defends 1.7% less than their FG% this year). So, what the hell is the problem??? He'd be amazing for us. And his contract is not that bad at all.
At least Thomas would put some pressure on Curry or Paul. These opposing PGs keep getting nights off on defense allowing to put all their energy on the offensive end.
Heard that Phoenix wants a first rounder in a deal for Dragic. My gut is telling me that Daryl is hesitant to give up the Pels pick.. that or he's waiting til the deadline..
Uh, if that's true(and that's a BIG if), then Morey would be insane to not give the Suns the NOP pick and matching salaries(Papa and Shved would get it done). Seriously, that would be a bargain if that's all Phoenix wanted.
We should get this deal done before the Lakers try to get involved. I know they have 1st round picks and want Gogi.
Yeah, don't think that's true. If it was true, Morey would of jumped on it already. Gogi for just a first? No brainer.
Very possible he's waiting on Shved being available to be traded. That's a pretty good expiring contract to add to a trade.
A second creator is such a huge glaring need. There is no way Morey stands pat at the deadline. We need to go all out for Gogi or Lawson. Jones, KPap, Terry, Canaan, Johnson, Capela, NO 1st, NY 2nd... Whatever it takes.
Rondo's value was based on when he was traded, if Dragic was traded back then, he'd get fetch more. The Suns have no choice but to trade him, and very little time to get it done and very few teams that Dragic would be likely to sign a new deal with, so they will not get much for a potential rental of a PG about to be 29.
Regardless of asking price, there's no reason for Phoenix not to hold until the deadline. The deadline and the all-star break coming at the same time ensures that every team can take a few days to take stock of their future direction. There's no reason to hurry for either side, as evident by the lack of moves in general until now. In the next few days, Phoenix will send out more feelers on Dragic and Thomas. And Rocket will ask around which PGs will be available. Both teams will look for the best bargain and a trade will likely happen sometime on the 18th or 19th.
Not all firsts are created equal. The 13~14th pick is roughly twice the value, if not more, than the 22~25th pick Mavs gave up for Rondo.
