Lol that's my mindset but people think I'm crazy for not going all in on Dragic! Just look at how Dallas bench struggles against other teams benches... I prefer to keep the beast bench we have and add a Darren Collison type guy. I think Houston could really do damage with chemistry and a Collison or Knight type guy.
It will be a little move. nothing major. This team works as it is. it might not be a championship team, but they can run with practcally anybody but the golden state warriors. If howard was healthy, they could part with a front court player. but not now.
Bucks fans seem to be high on Kanter. If that is all it takes to get Kanter from the Rockets side....then I would make it a 3-way sending Kanter to the Bucks for Brandon Knight.
It's certainly something to watch for in regards to Amar'e. I wouldn't mind him coming in for 10-15 minutes in the playoffs. His offensive game is back to being pretty solid. I could definitely see a team like Dallas or Golden State go in for him too.
Interesting. This is one reason why I think Morey may consider moving Ariza out either at the deadline or this offseason. However, acquiring Dragic doesn't mean we can't keep our band of brothers, or at least whatever part of our band of brothers remains after a trade. We do have Birds rights on everybody save Josh Smith. So he's the one we have to worry about losing and it will be interesting to see if a contending team with cap space comes forward to offer him more than the full MLE. No young team that is lottery bound is even going to be interested in him much less pay him big bucks. We will have the full MLE to offer Smith if we trade for Dragic and stay over the cap. I suspect we're going to be able to re-sign him using either a portion of or all of the full MLE. If we trade for Dragic the real question is going to be can we re-sign him and the others and still be players in 2016 free agency when Durant and others come on the market? That's when the cap is going to jump and ifa team handles their contracts right they very well could be in a position to have not three but 4 max level players on their roster. This is one reason why I would trade for Rubio. He's on a fixed deal. We know his salary. We don't know what Goran is going to be offered. His salary could eclipse Rubio's by $4-5 million per season.
Rubio would be so ineffective off the ball in Houston! There's no way Rockets bring in someone who needs the ball in their hands to be good. Why would anyone wanna take the ball out of Hardens hands with the way he's playing? If Rubio had anything resembling an ok 3 pt shot or even mid range shot for that matter then maybe... but that's not the case. Right now the biggest issue with Bevs is that he isn't knocking down the 3 ball very well which leaves more room for guys to cheat off of Bevs and help on Harden. Teams would leave Rubio wide ass open on the 3 pt line. I think that'd be the dumbest move Houston could do. Is a good thing that it's almost for sure not gonna happen.
I do not think Dragic is a max player anymore. I did before the season started but realistically he is worth about $12 a season, now that doesn't mean he won't get maxed but I do believe if we trade for him and quickly offer him $12 million like Toronto did with Lowry, we would be able to retain him. should be an interesting 2 weeks. I can't wait to see if we can land one of the Plowman 4.
As long as a players is performing up to their contract, you won't have any trouble trading them to make room for Kevin Durant. So if KD says he'll sign with Houston for the max, then you can trade Trevor Ariza and others to make room. There is no reason to pass up great opportunities this year and next because it will add salary to the summer of KD. You don't want albatrosses (like Larry Sanders) that run through that year because then you'll end up packing a 1st rounder to trade out that player like Lin this year. But if they are performing at or above their salary (like Asik) then it would be easy to move them. I'm not holding my breath on KD and passing up good moves on the small chances he come in a year and a half.
I would love for you to be right. Even 5/60 would be great. 4/48 would have a second year salary $11.6 million. In my opinion, as long as Dragic was healthy that would be a great value. Obviously better than Rubio's deal. But I have a funny feeling the Lakers or Knicks are going to up the ante.
Treyk3, I feel pretty much the same way, and the Lowry contract is a nice benchmark. But like has been mentioned, with NY & LA out there, anything is possible. Those teams are dying to get back on top. Rockets can't trade that NOP pick and risk losing value. So if they trade for Dragic, they have to be "prepared" to keep him. Or they could try to trade for someone under contract like Lawson, Rubio or someone like Brandon Knight where they would have some protection via him being an RFA. I am still very intrigued with Knight.
Last time Cyber paged in he said the FO was waiting to see how Jones and Howard were progressing before they started making moves. Since Howard is going to be out for 4 weeks, which puts him after the trade deadline, how will our FO handle this?
Please please please let's stop posting about Rubio! He's not an option. Minnesota does not want to trade him, and we don't have what Minnesota wants.
Same goes for Knight. A lot of you guys don't seem to understand that it's not common for teams to trade one of their best players during a playoff run. It's a really bad look and doesn't happen often. Especially when you're Milwaukee when you've been a pretty crappy team for so long and now you have all these young guys playing their hearts out and you've got Jabari coming back next year and you're winning games! And for the argument about how Knight is gonna command so much money; he can command whatever he likes, but not too many teams will throw that his way. I'm confident the way he's excelling in Kidds system, that they're gonna find a figure that they're both happy with
