If that's what they say, then you go nab one of Mo Williams, Brian Roberts, Jameer Nelson, DJ Augustin, CJ Watson, Mario Chalmers, Jose Calderon, Darren Collison, etc. with the NYK or DEN 2nd. There are PLENTY of 2nd and 3rd tier quality PGs that you can get at a reasonable price. Looking beyond this season, making a trade for Dragic isn't just about Dragic himself.......it's about Ariza, Terry, Brewer, Papanikolaou, and Smith. All of those guys would have to go to create the necessary cap space to sign Dragic in free agency. I'm not willing to do that, so a trade seems like the only realistic option to me. That said, given the looming bump in the salary cap in 2016, I'm also not willing to give up just anything to get Dragic in a trade. I'd want to pay a fair price, and I want a solid commitment from Dragic on a new contract figure.
The key thing I watch for with reporters is when they have exclusives. That tells you who a player and/or their management team is on good terms with, and inherently, those are the guys they're likely to leak anonymous stuff to. With Deveney/Dragic, there have been a few of those. Here's one from June 20, 2012: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/sto...ragic-steve-nash-houston-rockets-phoenix-suns Then on November 19 of last year: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/sto...cy-contract-salary-eric-bledsoe-isaiah-thomas I don't think there's anything particularly "special" to the connection -- just that Dragic knows and likes/trusts him more than most other national guys. So when Deveney says something Dragic-related, I'd listen. The dynamics of reporters building relationships with players are interesting. To whoever asked "why wouldn't Woj/Amick have X info if it were true", it's not quite that simple. It's not like those guys work to be in great standing with all players throughout the league. No one has that much time. They're typically able to focus on a handful of max-level players (most of which are easily identifiable by the time they're 21 years old, giving them tons of time) and their inner circles, along with team/league executives and agents, and that's enough to get them what they need. But a guy like Dragic wasn't supposed to be an elite talent. He was basically grinding it out as a role/bench player for years and gradually improved into a max guy over time. So it wouldn't surprise me if he has "go to" reporters that aren't the usual A-list, FWIW.
Chemistry is always important in the NBA. You can't go off of a few weeks of basketball bro and you know this. This team needs an upgrade at the point anyways. So what is your point. Why you think we are trying to find another player who can create for himself and his teammates.
Yep. Kanter. Honestly, Kostas and Jones plus the Knicks pick might be enough for Kanter and Jeremy Evans.
DMO should be untouchable, it's hard to find bigs in the NBA who are well rounded on offense, defense and passing. TJones is a good offensive player but as was seen in the playoffs he was too short/small to defend LMA, he got backed down and bullied until we put Dwight/Asik into the game. Smith is a great defender but he has almost no NBA caliber offensive skills. The people here on the board need to stop thinking as if every season will be the last, all that really does is put you deeper in the hole. Asset wise, the value of Dragic is no where near DMO's, maybe Dragic is a better player but solid two-way pgs are really common in the NBA, whereas 2 way big men are hard to find.
If Suns decide to deal Dragic and the offer from the Rockets is only NOP pick and bench there are many other teams who can make better offers. The value of the NOP pick is overstated here. The teams have already been scouting this class and it's become obvious that is not deep and has a huge fall out of the top 7-10 . By dealing Dragic the Suns essentially give up on their PO chances and make the NOP pick even worse.
Why would the Suns be interested in Kanter? To pay him a max when they have Len who is cheaper and already better? And destroy their fast paced offence?
he'd re-sign with sacramento? wouldn't part of the whole deal of leaving phoenix be to like, play in the playoffs? You understand that teams willing to give up assets need to be teams he'd re-sign with since he's opting out into UFA at the end of the season?
Sorry but Dragic himself has said that he will give every team equal chance in FA including LA and Knicks. Of course he would resign in Sacramento since they would give him the most years since they would have his bird rights and he will have a chance to be paired with another young star in Cousins. That team with Dragic is a PO team.
Then let them go for it. How many teams are going to offer a ton knowing that Dragic could be nothing but a rental? I'm fairly sure he'd want to stick around in Houston so I'd be comfortable offering the NOP first and fodder but he's simply not worth a lot more than that given the position that the Suns put themselves in by not dealing him sooner. If they don't pull the trigger on a deal, he leaves and they get nothing.
Josh cab start on a lot of teams. He elected to come off the bench for the betterment of the team. Chemistry was off when we 1st acquired him.
Name the team and the deal. What you are not taking into account is how limited the trade market for Dragic is. There's very few teams that would go after him. First of all, most teams already have a premier point guard. Of those teams that do not have a premier point guard, that would trade for him, remember, he's a pending free agent. They're not going to be willing to put a lot of assets on the table for Goran without knowing they can sign him back. Now go ahead.....name the team and the deal.
Hell if Rockets only offer a NOP pick even the Bucks can make a better offer. Toronto and Utah as well.
