1. Detroit, barring injury, is headed to the playoffs in the East, malakas. They're thumping teams now. SVG has his spread lineup. More 3&D just makes them stronger. I can make a very strong case that they would be interested in Ariza for a non-lottery first round pick. 2. IF....Chicago is interested in Ariza....we'll give them Ariza, Bev, Capela, Pels pick...anything they want besides Harden/Howard/DMo for Jimmy Butler, Dunleavy, Hinrich, and whatever other expirings they want to send us. Otherwise, no deal. Trading Ariza for a non-lottery pick and a rookie doesn't help us win a championship now or later. 3. If you want to consider teams that might like Ariza...Detroit has to be on the short list...along with possibly Charlotte (although unlikely they would give us a contending piece.) Toronto may also be a team that would take a gander at Ariza. They've got a couple nice expirings that could be sent to Minny as filler in a 3-way deal. 4. Oh....one other team may be interested in Ariza. Milwaukee.
That is the real question. Who is gone and who stays long term. I suspect IT and Bledsoe stay because they are under contract at good value. Cap space and flexibility are important. I agree that the Rockets are out of the Dragic market if they do not deal for him. However, how confident are the Suns that Dragic won't bolt for the Lakers for max money? Dragic has shown in the past that he won't leave money on the table and he isn't afraid to move on. At this point I suspect the Suns decide to hold onto all three of their guards and attempt to get playoff experience knowing Dragic is most likely gone. However, if Houston or another team makes a good enough offer, they may feel they can still push for the playoffs and be better long term. At this point I have to think the Suns would do a DMO and Pelicans pick for Dragic... DMO would help the Suns now and later. I just don't think the Rockets make that deal straight up at this point.
If he were to be traded to Houston, we have to get PHX something besides the NOP 1st, and I'm positive we aren't willing to trade DMo for him. I'd watch Brooklyn, Sacramento, and Orlando.
I am not 100% certain the Rockets wouldn't deal DMO for Dragic. I think the Rockets would do it (especially if they are optimistic about Howard), but the Rockets would have to be getting back another solid and useful big. I could see the Rockets move DMO, Pelicans pick, Knicks pick, Terry and Pap smear in a huge 3 team deal that nets the Rockets a veteran 4/5, Dragic and maybe a functional reserve 5.
Not true. This is why I'm mentioning Ariza right now. If Rockets clear out Ariza then they can create more than enough cap space to sign Dragic in the summer. This could be some of the pressure that is exerted on PHX at the deadline. Ring Ring: McDonough: Hello Morey: Hey, this is Dork Elvis McDonough: Again? Dude, this is the 14th time this week. Don't you ever.......... Morey: Last chance. I'm fixing to trade Ariza to clear cap to offer Goran a max deal this summer. Already got a deal in place. So, last call. Capela, Knicks pick, future first (not Pels pick), Kostas, Jones for G & Z. Take it or leave it. McDonough: Wha.............?!?!?! You son of a ........ Deal!
Hey bballholic I follow a lot of the east and I can tell you Detroit will NOT make the playoffs unless Bosh and Wade get completely injured. Kemba is coming back in like 6-7 games and meanwhile they still manage to squeze out some wins. Detroit without Jennings is too incosistent and lacks playmakers. If they do buy something for a last desperate attempt to make the playoffs that would be a PG. I am certain that Chicago is interested in Ariza coz they look for a defensive wing. But Butler is absolutely not available. They may be cheap but with how Rose has been playing Jimmy going nowhere. Charlotte would as well but has almost no assets they are willing to offer. Toronto since it won't be selling Ross and Amir what else has that might have and interested to trade? Can't believe the NY pick would be available. Ujiri is a fox. Milwaukee is not interested in Ariza at all. We are set at the wings. I can't see what is there to offer to Minny that would make them trade Rubio. It has to be at the minimum T.Jones plus a lottery pick. Maybe more.
First of all the Suns FO is a SOB who plays hardball. They won't just buy into Morey's bluff . Secondly just clearing out Ariza will create enough space for a max? But then you will have a new hole. Btw Ariza's trade value has taken a turn for the worse. It was much higher in the summer.
That includes the ASG and from the time of the surgery to him coming back Charlotte had I think only 11 games to play and they already won a couple.
I don't think that works in Houston's interests. DMo is one of two things right now: 1) A very good, well rounded player. Even if he doesn't improve from where he is now, he's going to get a 4 year $60+ million deal in 2016, and I wouldn't trade him for anyone less than a top 15 player (ie Love) 2) A budding star. Wouldn't trade him for almost anyone. Either way, you don't trade a 24 y/o quality big for a 28 y/o expiring PG unless his name is Chris Paul or Stephen Curry.
Wade already is dinged. It's an annual thing now malakas. You can't depend on Wade for more than 50 games max. They're in danger of missing the playoffs altogether and SVG is coming. He ain't playing for the lottery. Perhaps. You are apparently not seeing Augustine play. SVG has their system working. They may need ANOTHER PLAYMAKER. I see John Lucas III has made it back. But if you think they're going to fold up...better think again. Won't happen barring injury. They're coming. This is true. Unless Jimmy Butler tells them he really wants to leave. Something to watch for. Probably won't happen but better watch that situation into the trade deadline. Toronto has an extra non-lottery pick, plus some expirings. Expirings and a pick could be used to send to Minny in a 3-way deal for Rubio and Martin. Maybe not. But if they want to move Knight for value....perhaps Knight/Dudley for Ariza/Canaan/picks would peak their interest. They're going to have to re-sign Dudley or let him walk for nothing. And Giannis, Parker, and Middleton aren't enough to run out 144 minutes. Need that 4th guy. Ariza fits with his length and spot up ability. If I were Minny I woudn't trade Rubio. However...Minny is not going to the playoffs for at least 2 more seasons. And maybe much longer than that. By the time they'll actually be competitive Rubio will be hitting his late 20's and looking for an even bigger deal. They're rebuilding. And a player like D'Angelo Russell would be a lot better fit for what Flip Saunders wants to do than Rubio. The Pels pick combined with their own pick may allow them to pick up Russell. Or perhaps they win the lottery, draft the big boy, and then use their 2016 first and the Pels pick plus a youngster or two (Lavine) to get Russell. You just don't know what Flip is thinking. You just don't know what Flip is thinking. You just don't know what Flip.... You just don't know what.... You just don't know......
I don't know if DMO is a budding star but what I know is that his has some qualities that are rare for a big man. Adequate defence with good post up play very good touch and playmaking skills for a big and has been adding a jumpshot. He can play two positions. So even if he doesn't become a star he is extremely valuable. Especially on a rookie contract. But Morey will have to pay him. I can see some teams throwing him a max offer next year (or the year after ?) Now post up play is used less and less in today's game but he still is very very valuable. I know there has been a debate here between the two but imo Jones has much less trade value if for no other reason than what DMO has to offer is much more rare and can fit in almost every team in the league.
He had the surgery on the 28th, putting 6 weeks around March 12-13. They still have another 16-17 games to go until then. I don't know, I'm personally not counting the Pistons out just yet.
Morey will pay it. He's a free agent in 2016, which gives us 2 summers to add significant pieces. No reason not to pay him the max if he's worth it. In fact, if we are able to secure a significant player before October, I wouldn't be surprised if we give him an extension.
Parsons 2.0 DM the GM didn't pay him until it was time, and refused to use in him in a trade to upgrade our squad. As a result we got nothing (except club photo of Chan and Cubes) out of that gem of a contract. Here we go again...
