Agreed on Lawson. I simply used him as illustrative for his contract being less than $12 million per. Morey may be interested in Lawson, but I can't see him giving up the Pels pick for him. If he could acquire Lawson and still have the Pels pick to package with Lawson to acquire somebody else I can see him possibly doing that. But not Lawson at the cost of the Pels pick and landlocking himself in by not having cap space nor a good pick to trade.
basketballholic, I don't see the Rockets getting Dragic, Lawson or Knight without surrendering the NOP pick. Which do you value more: NOP pick or DMO? I value DMO more at this point. And it wasn't that way to start the season.
Pretty much. I doubt many here watch Bucks or much of the East (don't blame them) so to summarize : Knight + Can take guards off the dribble and finish at the rim with contact Goes to the FT line and very good FT% Shoots threes very well and is improving his % every year Willing defender with active hands. Contest all the shots and gets steals Exceptionally fast Very young Very very clutch - wins games all year with shots with the game on the line Hard working good locker room guy not a diva very good kid Has been so far only with bad teams who ask him to be the main guy. With his first good coach (Kidd) he has shown a lot of improvement with being moved more and more off the ball and starting to pass much better - Not good for a PG vision Still thinks too much though has shown improvement If he's your number 1 guy he will score a lot will win you games but imo you won't be a winning team Doesn't make teamates a lot better Tends to overdribble Questionable if he can feed the bigs in the post While he is very very fast in transition he many times tries to go for the AND1 and doesn't pass In conclusion I think best role is scoring guard off the ball and super Jason Terry off the bench for the Bucks in the role he has been asked to do he is not a good fit and not at his price range for a rebuilding young team but it's my opinion next to Harden his negatives will hide and his positives will be magnified. What do you think?
Don't know how to edit but forgot to add that he also is exceptionally good in getting rebounds for a guard.
In terms of winning a championship, DMo has more value. In terms of the greatest trade asset, DMo has more value. We simply can't trade DMo for anything less than a superstar power forward, somebody that will be the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team and be a big. But....the Pels pick is probably the best pick that is going to be available in trade at the deadline. Therefore it is a very important asset. And for us specifically...if we trade the Pels pick.....it has to be a championship winning trade OR it has to be a trade that makes us better and allows us to play free agency in 2015. Morey is simply not going to go all-in on any trade UNLESS he thinks it is a championship winning trade. With that in mind, does Knight for the Pels pick make us a championship team? Some will say yes it does. Therefore they'd trade the pick. I say no it doesn't. In fact, I don't think Knight nor Lawson make us a championship team. I think Dragic could very well put us in the championship conversation. So, I'd have to consider giving up the Pels pick for Dragic.
Thanks for that list of PLUS/MINUS. For my money, the PLUSES easily out weigh the minuses. It would be great if the Rockets could get a PG that 1) Be a Facilitator/passer 2) Can defend 3) Can shoot 3ptrs to space the floor 4) Can create their own shot off the dribble / attack the basket. Sounds like Knight does 2/3/4, and for me that is "good enough" to be a MAJOR impact player on this team. Not to mention he is only 23.
You would think that if Dwight is coming back half way healthy Morey will have zero intentions of keeping the Pel's pick no matter how valuable people think it is. He's going to use that chip now and the poker game should start pretty soon. The team really needs someone that can get their shot, control the ball and the turnovers
I really don't get the impression that Morey knows how Dwight will come back, if he does at all. I'm not really anticipating a major move now, for that reason.
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 3m3 minutes ago Lakers forward Jordan Hill has a strained hip muscle and will likely miss two weeks, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
So it is Knight for who the focus has shifted to. i guess phoenix asking price for Dragic is above market value. Kudos to Phoenix, they are like the Rockets of Francis and Mobley, gritty team without that true superstar. Shoot for the playoffs, and worry about personnel movements till next year.
Yup, it would be silly to sacrifice future assets and flexibility if they're not sure of Dwight can come back healthy this year. There is no chance of contending without Dwight no matter they bring in Lawson, Dragic, Knight or whoever.
wow Can't decide who is the worst coach. Shaw or Jacque Vaughn. The denver organisation is a complete joke. Top to bottom. Their owners are cheap and allieniate all coaches and managers. The FO is incompetent and doesn't even know the CBA. The players go there to kill their carreers. Now this..Shaw even stopped practices so players could party the night before. What a complete joke.
