After watching the playoffs the last 2 years for the Pacers, George Hill is not a starting point guard on a championship team, he's a great backup point.
We dont necessarily need a play maker...guys that are actually a threat to score on drives would work too. The point is to just get the defense to react and move around, then move the ball to get ahead of them. Pat is no threat to drive, unless they leave the lane wide open, and even then, he's not very good at finishing in traffic or creating a shot on the way. I think Hill is better, not great, but definitely better at that, than Pat.
yeah, but last season Pat had an USG% of 14.8 with a AST% of 12.8. This season it slight raised to 16.9 and 16.7 respectfully. Last season Hill had an USG% of 14.8 and a AST% of 17.2. I won't even do last season's playoffs advanced stats because Beverley's advanced stats are embarrassing... to George Hill's. Hill doesn't do anything great, but he does a lot of things well. He moves the ball around, he can initiate plays, and he can play defense very well. Particularly pick n roll defense. Obviously I'd rather have someone like J.Jack over George Hill, but if the Pacers call and say they want to trade Hill for Kostas and filler then I would think about it.
I say we put harden into the pg role where he is basically playing right now, brewer into the two, bev as backup pg off the bench. James is a distributor playmaker... 11th in assists. Brewer could be james's klay thompson. All ive seen bev do is hold on to the ball till about 8 seconds left then passes it to james. He hasnt the court vision to be a pg. james would be averaging a triple double by the end of the season.
Hill and Bradley are both solid players, but wouldn't help us move the needle. At their price tags, I'd rather gamble with talent already on the roster than fork over assets for questionable "upgrades".
Returning home? Maybe it's one of our players returning home? Beverley, NOpick, Capella for D-Rose. I kid, I kid.
