Didn't Morey want to trade for Eric Gordon back in the day? The plan was to play harden at the point, Gordon at the 2.... Not that I think Gordon is the targe, but is it possible he's targetting a 2 guard to pair next to harden?
Yes........... It's the under the radar type move that most wouldn't see coming. Just a couple points: You'd better be searching for guys that have contracts ending next season...not this season. Some of those guys have very little trade value and some teams would take expiring contracts just to get rid of them. Eric Gordon is an obvious example. I think if the Pels see they are out of the playoff picture, they would be very happy to escape paying him $15 million next season to clog their cap. Also, if you believe cyberx's report that Morey was doing his due diligence on Deron Williams.....you can bet your granny's underwear that he'd consider Eric Gordon as long as Gordon is halfway healthy. Also, taking $15 million off the Pels hands (and sending them back a young piece or two) would also call for something else back from them....either Ajinca to help Dwight hold down the middle and/or possibly further adjustments to the protection on their pick....maybe moving it down to top 1 or just top 2 protected. That increases the value of that pick. EDIT: And who knows? You guys talking about Martin to PHX as part of a Dragic deal....consider this one. What if Gordon continues to punch it out like he has the last couple games and show that he is still the same type of player he was a couple years ago if he has something to play for? Remember, PHX is the team that offered him the max deal. They might just be on to getting the Pels pick plus Gordon for the Dragic brothers and Gerald Green. If you think they'd be interested in Kevin Martin you should be able to see they could be interested in Eric Gordon as well.
There is nothing the Rockets can do about Howard and it really isn't his fault either. He is playing with a bum knee that will be addressed with surgery in the off season. There is about a 50/50 chance the old Howard emerges after rehab, etc. It isn't coincidence we were linked to Lopez. As long as Howard can play through the pain, we will put him out there. The Rockets don't need Rubio. The Rockets need someone else on the perimeter that can create for themselves and others. As the Suns continue to hang tough, it makes Dragic less likely. The Rockets should look at Ty Lawson, especially with DMO coming down to earth. Let teams worry about stopping a starting backcourt of Lawson/Harden.
this team needs a shot in the arm. we need more firepower. ty lawson would be great. he is very aggressive, bull dog mentality.
I'd almost be on board with this one. Don't know if Gordon can prove he can stay healthy, or if one month would be enough time. Hard to believe now he was the Clippers' big piece of the CP3 deal; but last night's line was impressive.
Ty Lawson would be great, but what would motivate the Nuggets to move him...?? They have him under contract for two more years at a great salary.
Looks to me like any major move we make will be near the deadline. Morey refuses to overpay and the Nuggets (or whatever team) will want to get as much as possible. Look, this Rockets team is a 50-54 win team... it was never a 60 win team, even with a fast start. With Howard playing bone-on-bone, we can forget about a top 3-4 seed. Just get in the playoffs, avoid GS and hope for a trade and a gritty Dwight Howard.
At least everyone seems to agree that a PG is needed or at least another playmaker so that Beverley can go back to the spark plug that served him so well and made us all fall in love with his game. Either Rubio or Lawson would fit well on this team. Gordon is too expensive in terms of outgoing salary from our side to make him fit unless other teams get involved. The contracts to trade are Shved and KPap (if Brewer is also dealt then an additional cheap 3 and D wing has to also be in the deal). The only Rockets teams to make playoff noise all had great point guards (Murphy, Lucas) or a great combo (Smith/Casell). Beverly could be like our Casell coming off the bench so the Rockets really need to find a Kenny Smith of which there a few in the NBA. Teams must still be asking more than what Morey is willing to pay because waiting until the deadline just further decreases the likelihood any new player can gel with the existing roster (which is also why it's so rare for a mid-season acquisition to be the key cog in a championship drive).
Why are we sleeping on Brandon Jennings.. he has been playing out of his mind the past few weeks, and did I mention he's a lefty!! And he's available.. Cyberex.. I don't ask for much, but can u get a word put in.. he might be worth a shot
The only PG I think is almost sure to be moved is Reggie Jackson. Dragic, Lawson, and even Rubio.... I don't see any reason why their teams NEED TO move them. -You could make a case for J. Jack, but if the Nets are successful in trading DWill, they will want to have SOMEONE manning the point, and creating offense -You could make a case for Jrue Holiday, but that is contingent on Reke Evans moving over to the point long term... how did that work out in Sacramento? I'm perfectly fine with Morey making proposals for Lawson, and Dragic, but I'd temper my expectations. More than likely Morey's going to either have to take a gamble on someone like RJackson, or he's going to have to be resourceful in finding production there from an overlooked area..... which might just be on the Rockets roster already.
Isnt Ramon Sessions on the block? I'm not overly ecstatic about it, but the guy can move the ball around and can shoot it. I know his back is gimpy right now, but prior to being buried in the sinking ship that is Sacramento, he was actually a name out there. Hell for that matter Sacramento would make a good partner in the same respect that they will maybe do anything to salvage the hype from the beginning of the year and offer up other players that might fit what we need.
I could see us targeting a random PG that Morey has his eye on (Lowry 2.0) or Morey being resigned to moving Terry's contract knowing that Canaan will inherit the PT (moving Rafer to force Brooks into the lineup 2.0). If the injury isn't that bad I still think Morey makes a run at Melo. I don't know why... I just think that's the target. Assuming health. I cant see any reason why the Knicks would want him. Definitely wouldn't surprise me if we don't add a PG that is better than Beverley.
Dude, he play excellent basketball because JSmoove left the team. You want to put them together again? Lol
Jarrett Jack is a nice player but I don't know that he raises our ceiling that much. Jrue Holiday isn't someone I'm in love with, but he's also not someone I know a heck of a lot about. His teams in Philly and NO were meh so I never gave him special attention. So maybe he'd be great for this team or maybe not. I wouldn't know. Reggie Jackson is concerning to me, because 1) I don't think he's as good as most other people think he is; and 2) I don't think he's as near as good as he thinks he is. He takes a lot of bad shots - every time I see him on the court he takes at least 1 long two early in the shot clock. That's a Durant/Westbrook shot, not a Reggie Jackson shot. Plus he has a reputation for being a terrible defender, and we can't win the big games when James Harden is our best defensive guard. And lastly but perhaps most troubling: he seems to think he's a max player. With that said... all these guys would help so I wouldn't be against them, but I'm not excited about any of them either.
After the Harden trade, I'd be shocked if OKC did a deal with us that involved more than a couple of loose ends, which doesn't describe Jackson, of course. Once bitten, twice shy. Having said that, getting Harden from them was a shocker, so I guess you never know. I think it's highly unlikely, though.
I don't see why not, Smith has been moved to bench while Jennings would be a starter.. + I don't see Smith on the team after this year, and I think Jennings salary is in the 8mil range..
What is Detroit's motivation for moving Jennings? The team is finally buying in and performing exceptionally.
