People say this every year and then when FA rolls around, voila! Cap space miraculously appears. I'd bet teams will make room when the time comes.
He's a point guard, the options aren't much, which is also why trade value is low (for all of them), as for how satisfied he is, he doesn't seem to be able to give an interview lately without throwing in some form of dissatisfaction (we're playing well, "but" i'm having to adjust), or talks about other teams etc.
Why do you guys want Lawson so badly? He's a horrendous defender, but he can playmake and score. But again his role will be marginalized on this roster, and his 3 point shot isn't the greatest. And when he doesn't have the ball, and players can help off Lawson even more than Bev. Lawson won't even be able to slow down players on the other end.
I wish we could play Canaan more so we know what we have, if he doesn't work out then pursue calderone
In case you've ever wondered what cyberx's pager sounds like: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/tC9dhpiGg5M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Damn, he's not responding. He must have left it in his mansion. Time for the signal: Spoiler
I went to the game where we played the kings, Canaan was lighting it up and everyone around me kept asking who is that guy? I like that guy! I was laughing and thought he was going to remain part of the rotation, and then he got hurt in the clippers game, where he was wrecking it before he went down. After he went Down the momentum shifted. I also was very impressed how he carried the team in the summer league. **** was hot as ****
Pheonix needs wing depth, particularly at the SF. Three team trade between Rockets, Sun and Nuggets. Rockets in: Dragic (7.5 million), Z. Dragic (1.8 million) Rockets out: Jones (1.6 million), Papa (4.8 million), Shved (3.2million), NOP pick Nuggets in: Jones (1.6 million), Papa (4.8 million), NOP pick Nuggets out: Chandler (6.8 million) Suns in: Chandler (6.8 million), Shved (3.2 million) Suns out: Dragic (7.5 million), Z. Dragic (1.8 million) Suns rumored to love Shved and Chandler would fit in great with their system. Bledsoe / Thomas Tucker / Goodwin / Shved Chandler / Green Morris / Morris Len / Wright That's a pretty damn good lineup. Nuggets get some great talents in Jones and Papa, and the NOP pick to help them rebuilt. Rockets solve their "what happens when Jones come back?" problem, get their secondary playmaker in Dragic and use the NOP pick to get value. Maybe the Suns would be willing to include Plumlee, too? Either way, it fits in the trade. But that would be a dream come true. Dragic / Beverley Harden / Terry Ariza / Brewer DMo / Smith Howard / Plumlee Championship?
That was a month ago, nobody is complaining in Phoenix right now, they won 8 of the last 10 and everybody seems to be settling down into their roles. But things might change again if they start seriously loosing.
They have a month and a half for it to become clear that they aren't going to make the playoffs. Barring an injury they'll probably hover at the 8th spot especially now that they've added wright. With NOLA and OKC within striking distance, there is no guarantee that they're in, but it's also unlikely that the landscape will change significantly enough for them to feel like they need to change course and wait until next season. IMO they aren't one of those "every team is scared to face them" type 8 seeds, so it's not like giving up a first rounder to scrap and get in buys them much.
One factor I haven't really seen talked about with viability of DWill is the hard cap. If the Rockets make use of the full $5mil salary difference, they'll be at the hard cap and have no flexibility for the rest of year. I don't think Morey's sacrificing that for DWill even if healthy. Bosh I can still imagine Morey pulling the trigger. Dwill not so much.
Was waived and cost the Rockets nothing. Deron Williams is owed $60 million. The Rockets aren't trading for Deron.
I remember that article from Bima, maybe someone can help me with what I'm leaving out in the cap calculation. Howard, harden, ariza, dmo, dorsey, Bev, canaan, Johnson = roughly $51mm. That leaves about 15-16mm right?
IMO, this is just a smoke screen by Morey to get a better deal for Dragic. The $$ amount worth of players we'd have to give up would mean we'd be shipping out more talent than D-Will is worth. cyber: I thought that D-Will was almost untradeable with that contract of his? He still has $21m next year and $22 the year after. He's not even worth a 2nd round pick, is he?
Other posters have mentioned the possibility of DWill getting waived via the stretch provision. Is it possible that Morey is keeping the Rox linked to him in rumors so that he may be more inclined to sign with us once he would (inevitably) clear waivers? Besides the Dwight connection, Morey's continuous pursuit of Smith was a big reason why he ended up here.
