If Josh Smith does sign with us, i would start him and bring D-Mo off the bench. That way, both units will have post threats. I admit, i wasn't keen on trading for J-Smoove or signing him long term but at $2M, why the heck not?! That's a huge discount for someone like a Josh Smith. Also think we will get the good version of him. Can't wait!
He's playing much better right now which makes.me.wonder if they rather drop Black to make.room for Smith.
if jones is gonna be out all season, it might be good to keep both black and dorsey as insurance and see if we can get a pick for canaan or capela in a trade instead. waiving dorsey has some negative cap implications as well

I wonder if DM knew Smith was being waived before everyone else, and that's why we dropped out of the Rondo sweepstakes?
Showcasing??? If these players are good enough to be "showcased", then why aren't they good enough to play regularly?
Why? Would Rondo be less serviceable with Smith than without Smith? I`d argue the opposite would be the case. Smith needs good passes, DMo not so much. With Rondo it was always about how he could fit next to Harden, about injury concerns and about thinking about the right price for him.
Passing is important and that could one of the reasons why the Rockets like him. They want Smith's passing ability to give Dwight the ball. This Rockets team isn't very good at getting the ball to their bigs.
Any trade for Rondo would have hard capped us, as it stands right now, if we traded for Dragic (whose owed a lot less than Rondo) whilst Smith is signed, we're basically on the precipice of the hard cap.
lmao imagine the brick laying, especially from the FT line with Howard, Smith, Rondo, and don't let anyone else be cold on any given night.. oh my.
JVG calls Rockets FO, divulges plan to waive Smith. Morey seen whispering in ears of Howard/Harden. Sources non-existent.
So, anyone want to speculate on woj's recent tweet? How could our position have strengthened? Has Smith expressed interest in joining us? Have we found a trade partner to dump Dorsey to? Has Dwight promised to cut back on his lockerroom farts?
For reference: Spoiler

Houston has strengthened its position as the frontrunner to sign Josh Smith, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) December 23, 2014
I'll just assume it has to do with the Rockets feeling like they have an easy way to clear a roster spot, and perhaps an indication from Smith's camp that the interest is mutual.
