I would do it for Mrs. SwoLy. She hates having to figure out what remote controls what, and isn't patient enough to sit with me so I can teach her. The Harmony line has a ONE-BUTTON "this is what I want to do" touch that makes that easy. Listen to the radio only? Click. Watch SpongeBob with the little SwoLy kids? CLICK. [TV auto-magically changes to the channel it needs to go using a 'macro.'] Watch a DVD? Click. Watch Oprah? ... ooops... where's that damn remote...?
With all of the components that I have, having a universal remote is worth its weight in gold. You click one button and everything does what it is supposed to do. It is very, very worth it. Plus, having the wireless extender means that you can put everything behind closed doors and it is much neater.
No prob. Yeah its pretty nice. However I keep trying to justify purchases I don't really need only because its such a great deal.
I've had the Harmony 880 for a couple of years now and can say that I love the remote, but it is a pain in the ass to charge. It never gets a good connection with the charging base so you have to sit there and jiggle it around for 5 minutes before it will actually stay in the correct spot to charge. If I had it to do over I wouldn't get it again. I'd probably get one with batteries that are replacable and just use good rechargeables.
I got a $750 dollar HP laptop (14.1 widescreen, 250gb, 2ghz core 2 duo, 512 mb nvidia card, 2gb ram, etc etc) for $475 after the 30% cashback and 10% ebay coupon on Saturday. Great deal.
i got a 16 gb kingston usb flash drive for 24 shipped from buy.com not the greatest deal..but not having to deal with rebates, etc is always a plus.
Thanks to you! Saw your post, gave em a call, and stormed down. Boy, is security tight in that place or what? There was this grizzly dark man standing at the door way with his arms crossed. Even when I was checking out, he was staring at me with deep conviction - I didn't even have the TV with me because they were taking it out back! It's hard to slip a LCD under your shirt... they know that right?
Micro Center has the Lenovo Ideapad y510 for $600 after rebate. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 3 GB Ram 250 GB Hard drive here are some other deals: http://microcenter.com/specials/catalogs/broadsheet.html
I have the Harmony 880 - it stops me from having about 4 or 5 remotes stacked everywhere just to watch something. It allows me to download all my components to the remote via the Internet and all I have to do is hit a button to watch TV, play a DVD, play XBox, etc. It's a convenience more than a necessity.
i have the 880 also, its freaking great. because my tv takes a while to boot up, i can setup a startup delay.
Purchased one 10 min ago from ebay using live search in all total price $52 free shipping. Refurbished but still has 1 year warranty!!!!
