Cat would know since he is African American. Shaq's comment was very similar to what Fuzzy Zoeller said about Tiger Woods. Cat of all people should know that ignorant jokes like that hurt people. It is clear to me where Cat's loyalty stands now.
Race and culture are tightly intertwined. Did blacks enjoy Fuzzy Zoeller poking fun at what cuisine Tiger Woods would serve because of his blended racial background? That wasn't aimed at "race" but at "culture." Did blacks forgive Fuzzy because "I was just joking. If anybody, was offended, I apologize." Did that put a cork in the furor he raised? Should it have? You answer that to yourself. That said, now please, let's get back to the positives that Cat Mobley had to say about Griffin, Ming and the Rockets in general.
Let's not get bent out of shape here. Cuttino is echoing Yao Ming's public stance, and it very well be that Yao wants to defuse the situation (either because Shaq has already made nice, or he doesn't want to have Shaq demonized further so that Shaq will consider him a mortal enemy rather than just a worthy challenger). I want to hear more about Cuttino praising E.G., that is great to hear. That was an awesome drop step he did on Amare last game for the eight foot J, something I hadn't really seen him do before. I really wanted E.G. to come out on top of that matchup, but I guess even with extra playing time that TMo took, Amare was still going to come out statistically ahead.
But did he mention that he's not as solid as Avery because I'd much rather have Avery J than the mooch.
Is this on in Houston only, or what b/c on his site (http://jimrome.com/home/show_audio_archive.html) it has a Donovin Darius Interview?
FF, the Darius interview was the feature of Friday's show. Rome just called Mobley on his cell phone because Cat was busy on game day. The conversation was about 5 minutes- mostly about Yao.
