Wrong. Kidd was the first to go. Kidd was traded while Jim Clemmens was still the Mavs Coach. Both Mash and Jackson were traded after Nellie arrived. Jackson was traded to New Jersey along with Cassell and the rest of the starting line up for Robert Pack, Bradley and the rest of NJ's starting line up. Mash was traded to Miami for a couple of guys I can't remember now. Remember that Kidd was the first to go not the last.
I might can run it down for you, but Kidd never played with Finley in Dallas. Mash went first to the heat for Kurt Thomas and someone else, Kidd and someone else was traded for Finley,Cassell and someone else, then Jackson,Cassell and Harris was traded for Bradley,Pack and someone else.
leebigez, You really need to do some research. Kidd was traded by Jim Clemmens (coach of the Mavs) on December 26, 1986 to Pheonix. I never said that Kidd played with Finley re-read my post. Shortly after Kidd was traded Jim Clemmens was fired and Don Nelson was hired. Don Nelson then traded Jamal Mashburn to the Heat in Feb of 1997. A few days later he traded Jim Jackson and a slew of others to NJ. What I am telling you is a fact. You are making your self look bad by not doing the research and continually saying that I am wrong. Let me help you. 1. Go to www.nba.com 2. Click on players 3. Choose Jason Kidd 4. Look at his career transactions and it will tell you when he was traded. 5. repeat the process for Jamal Mashburn. 6. repeat the process again for Jim Jackson. Jason Kidd traded 12/26/96 Jamal Mashburn traded 2/14/97 Jim Jackson traded 2/17/97 There it is the exact date that each of the three J's were traded from Dallas.
trade our pick +KT for the #2 pick which will presumably be Jason Williams Have Jason Williams running the point, then move Steve to SG and use Mobley as a 6th man. This gives us a ball distributer who can create plays for the rest of the team. my suggestion, which some of you will call dumb-as-**** will probably never happen...but we need to address our problem areas... and one of our problem areas is we don't have a true pg
With all the talk of Jason Wiliiams, it must be pointed out that he will be another score-first PG in the eyes of many in the media. I do recognize that Steve could improve in the point guard dept, but I think he has the potential to be top PG. I think some of the playmaking problem comes from the offensive style. You could say that 6+ assists is a great thing with this street-ball we play. Also for the person that said Finley was an all-star before Nash and Nowitzki became good. I could be wrong, but wasn't last year Finley's first all-star appearance? I'd say that his two teammates were playing fairly well, don't you think? Also he wouldn't make the all-star game if he were in the east, not to say that Cat would, just pointing out that he seems better than he is because of the lack of quality western 2 guards. If you ask coaches and GMs around the league who they take out of Finley or Cat and we had last year's record, the choice would be closer than most think.
i would say that a bigger problem is that the letters S and F were often found by the names Walt, Terrence, Glen, and Dan last season. and another is that the letter C was found by the name Cato most of the time. not that he wasn't decent with his improvement, and not that he didn't try, he just needs to improve more before i like the C by his name. and that our bench sucked. and that our frontcourt sucked. finding a new pg is low on my list of priorities.
If you are suggesting we have a rookie-J Williams running the point, then I'd rather have Steve at the point and Mobley at the 2.
Post count alert - cat is today's hot topic. Cat is regularly the topic of the day. Ugh. If win-or-lose were fundementally predicated on Cat's performance, maybe I care. It's not! He's not The Man and he's not The Problem. Perhaps that giant sucking sound coming from the worst frontcourt in the nba should distract you. Cat cat cat = blah blah blah.
