Same, Cushing is biggers, faster and stronger, and would do at least what Clay would in Green Bay, except Cush also has the all-around skills to not be exclusively a blitzer
I concur with one of the earlier post about Matthews being a one trick pony. It seems like he's got one assignment which almost always is to rush the edge. Obviously when that's all you're really called to do you will have more opportunities thus a higher sack total. The sack no doubt is a sexy stat but cannot be the only determining factor on how successful a LB is. Matthews also had a far superior defensive cast to play with. The Packers secondary gave plenty of time for the pass rushers to get to the QB. When you look at the total number of (personal) tackles this past year Cushing has 1 less than Matthews despite playing in about 3 less games. I usually look at total tackles to see how well a LB is doing. Guys like Demeco and Ray Lewis get a lot of respect b/c they consistantly put up 100+ tackles a season. Cushing's assignments compared to Matthews is a lot different than just passing the rusher. If that was his primary job I'm sure he'll have more. With all that said, I would give the edge to Matthews b/c of his intagibles. He's got a solid legacy and think he's more grounded as an individual. It's always hard to measure that but he seems to play all out almost every play.
