The Simpsons have been shat upon for so long it's now become underrated. It had a long lull but the last few seasons have been solid IMO. Quality of Simpsons episodes has to be one of the top 5 debate topics in internet history.
Yeah I don't think having a panda is significant as a plot point lol, or that it's necessarily set in China. The important point is that it's an Asian country so we know that they all work in sweatshops and their workers are drones without ownership of their work, unlike Banksy and western animators. According to the UK Daily Mail, animators at Akom were sufficiently pissed off to threaten a walkout at their depiction but they eventually did the work since they're professionals. Banksy for his part was "inspired" by reading that the animation was done in Korea. Who knows maybe he's actually smarter than we think and it's a deconstructive statement on the paternalistic lens through which the West sees Asia. Probably not lol. Yeah but Conan wrote 2 of the best episodes (the Animal House parody and the Monorail which I think was the first one with a song) and his time there overlapped with when the show broke out and everyone started watching it. Also the show changed a lot after 93 or whenever O'brien left. Previously it was a lot more about Bart. Later it became more about Homer and gimmicks week to week. I haven't seen many of the episodes recently but I dont think I've laughed in the past 10 years to anything I've seen on the Simpsons. Much like SNL, the last thing I found really funny (actually LOL funny like **** back when Will Ferrell or Dana Carvey was on the show) was probably Lazy Sunday
Damn. That was one sweet intro. Just saw it for the first time. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/the-simpsons/banksys-simpsons-intro-5-more-38357.aspx Has other great intros too.
The King of the Hill Dog Dancing Episode is on right now, and its honestly the greatest thing I have ever seen.
