The texans don't have the $$$ to give Cpep the contract he wants.

And Cpep tore up his knee real bad(ACL, PCL, and something else), doubt he'll be ready to go til midseason, and who knows when his knee will be back at full strenth.

    pass.

Manning would still have better stats because he would get the ball out quicker.

Carr has had Andre Johnson and DD. I'd hardly call them scrubs.

Yes, Carr has had an uphill battle with the lack of talent around him and the crappy coaching

    but

other qbs have shined with less around them, and Carr really hasn't. Carr has his fair share of warts now, most notably no pocket presence what-so-ever. But I definitely think he can succeed with the right coaching.

Unfortunately, Pepper's knee blew up pretty freaking bad last year - that being said - if they amputated it and gave him a peg leg... he would still out perform D. Carr.

Yep, I just said what everyone was thinking -- maybe... ;)

Carr better than Culpepper... Wow. Homerism has reached a new low.

Wait. Did I just agree with IC2k? I feel dirty. :)

I'm not saying that Carr is better than Culpepper. I am stating that I wouldn't want Culpepper on my team at this stage in his career. Like mentioned before he tore his knee up pretty bad and he wasn't exactly shining in the games to start the season last year. Carr proved in 04 that he can be a good QB in this league if he gets a little protection. I also think that it had a lot to do with the coaching. I have a feeling they would rather him take the sack than get the ball out with the possibility of turning it over. In the first few years he showed that he can get the ball out quickly. Bottom line is he just needs to be cut loose. If that happens I think he can be a very good QB in the NFL.

And to tell you the truth I don't even like David. I think he can be alot better though with this new staff.

I don't think anyone said Carr was better than Culpepper, just that they would prefer to keep Carr over Culpepper. I agree. Culpepper will want a new huge contract and is coming off of a major injury. That and his "boat" charges, of which he will most likely be acquitted, but still the Texans won't touch anyone invloved in that with a ten foot pole.

Culpepper's an idiot and his career is on the decline. Why trade an up and coming QB for a used up pig.

Remember how Kubiak helped Plummer. Carr is young and can get back on track.

With the new CBA, we get about an extra $8 million to spend, so we'll likely be about $12 million under the cap. We won't be going after Culpepper, but I say we go balls to the wall for Arrington right now.

Great point. If Kubiak can make Jake Plummer an All Pro, he can make David Carr. And if you doubt me, go back and look at Plummer's stats is Arizona, he was beyond awful.

Unless the Vikings are including a new knee with that trade, I think any team would be wary of Culpepper. He really tore it up.

The real big negative about Culpepper is he fumbles alot! I wouldn't want him for this reason.

Culpepper had a disasterous year this past season. I should know, since he was my #1 draft choice in my fantasy league (  ). I don't think McNair would want a character risk (sex cruise party-goer) as the face of the franchise, either. Not going to happen.

I forgot about the character issues and more important injury questions. Let's keep Carr and see if he improves any with the new staff. But please David, stop celebrating touchdowns when you're down 20 like you just won the frickin SB.

Sure did  It's not that I don't think Culpepper has shown to be a better QB than Carr, I just think Carr better fits the organization.

You obviously didn't see much of Daunte last season. Pro Bowler he was not.
