I can't help that the Cubs suck. That's beyond my control, twhy. I ask God only to give me the strength and patience to affect those things I can affect. To change those things I can change. That the Cubs suck is a universal truth. Was it pre-ordained to be so? There seems to be Biblical tension over that issue. But at the end of the day, all I can do is live in the reality I know. And that reality is the Cubs suck...and that if you were born and raised in this city you should be rooting for the Astros, Texans and Rockets. I think Moses dropped the tablet that had those truths preserved in stone...but they're truths nonetheless. You're in dangerous waters, my friend. Dangerous waters, indeed. Tread carefully.

You live in Houston. You were never from Chicago.

I was taught football from my Dad. We grew up watching Aggie games. And then I went, again, I WENT to Texas Tech.

I'm no longer an Aggie fan, although I still root for them unless they are playing us.

Considering you've never lived in Chicago, it seems rather ludicrous that you're still a Cub fan. Unless you're 15.

What's the reason I shouldn't like the Cubs again? Because you don't like the Aggies? That's a finely crafted argument.

Maybe if we resign Nolan, don't trade Billy Hatcher 15 minutes before I'm meeting him at Academy, and fire Milo Hamilton. All my tragic Astros memories are coming out again.

But I'm not going to troll in your Astros thread.

And to the poster who said the Cubs have the best rotation in the bigs, have you heard of the Angels? Because their rotation is sick.

Nolan's old...he was with the Astros organization for years before taking the job with the Rangers front office. He owned a minor league team in the Astros system.

Billy Hatcher is old...he retired years ago. The Cubs traded Greg Maddux...how'd that taste?

Fire Milo? Milo is still working for the 'stros. And there is no one who hates the Chicago Cubs more than Milo Hamilton.

    Exactly... :)

Hey, I was a kid, I didn't understand things like trades. All I know is I was supposed to get Billy Hatcher's autograph at Academy and there was a sign up on the door saying, whomp whaa, Billy Hatcher has been traded to the Pirates. That kind of stuff will stick with you for whatever dumb reason.

And Caminiti was a jerk. And Bagwell was a jerk. I like Biggio though. I'll give the Astros that.

Unless you have a Delorean and a flux capacitor, ain't much going to change. That's just who I like. Never said it had to make sense.

As I said, I pray only for the ability to change the things I can. Only you can make that change. Only you can start with the man in the mirror. As a great man once said....."go and sin no more."

This conversation is over. Gotta go, got Osama on the other line. We're scheuled for a photo shoot at the Billy Goat Tavern with a Steve Bartman lookalike. Osama's going tie him up and tickle him with a oversized feather.

When Rich Harden lands on the DL, should I post the link in here or start a new thread?
