Daryl Morey and Mark Cuban have a long history.

People forget that Mark Cuban played a large part in David Stern vetoing the Gasol/Hilario deal.

Mark Cuban belittled the Rockets in his pitch to Dwight Howard. That did not sit well with Morey.

Daryl Morey contacted the Mavericks about the availability of Dirk Nowitzki after signing Howard, which pissed off Cuban.

Mark Cuban then signed away Gersson Rosas by giving him a big raise and a convoluted title. Less than a year later Rosas was back an discussed "quietly" about the level of disfunction in Dallas.

Even this off season Cuban's pitch to Anthony in part relied upon bad talking the Rockets.

Then the day AFTER the Chandler Parsons offer sheet was agreed upon, it wasn't Cuban talking to Morey about a possible S&T, it was Nelson talking about coming up with a deal to satisfy both parties.

At this point there is no question that there is legitimate bad blood between Cuban and Morey. It appears to be competitive in nature and you have two guys that are very opinionated, think outside the box and are used to being the smartest one in the room. Couple that with two guys that don't exactly keep a low profile and you have issues.

Cuban isn't pissed at Morey because of what happened last year. He is pissed that Morey, while doing do diligence, offered Dirk the max to come to Houston to team up with Harden and Howard.

Nice recap, I wonder if Cuban will continue attending the Sloan Conference.

Cuban is trying really hard to make sure Parsons stays loyal to him.

    I think he will.

I don't think that they really hate each other other than they both are very competitive, strong personalities. Lets be honest, both guys are used to people hating them.

I just view them as arch rivals... they kind of need each other.

Yes, and add the "We don't treat players like assets (and refers to Howard as an asset." FOS

Not to go all-ego, but the reason I replied on my own post is that there is a reason I know all these things above, and not b/c I'm obsessed with Cuban. It's that HE DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO STFU! I mean, damn Cuban, I know he reads this message board, so no doubt he's reading this, so a bit of advice- you need to STFU sometimes and just do your job behind closed doors. I have no idea about any of the other owners in the NBA b/c they are where they belong - out of the spotlight. You did it in 2011 for a while, and look what happened? So. Mr. Egomaniacal Owner, if you would just STFU in the media, you wouldn't be called to task on your blatant FOS hypocrisy.

I really wish we would have got bosh now.

I still think we'll beat dallas, but it just would have been so sweet completely dominating them

I hate to say it, but I think I agree with most of what he says. I disagree with his implied assertion that CP is an elite player, but that's beside the point. He leaned on the fact that MOrey views players as assets with no loyalty and I'll bet that is the selling point in every single meeting that gm's have with players, both our free agents and players considering Houston. It's my belief that until Morey can shake that rap, he's going to continue to run into battles that he will lose. I'm not sure we will ever get to a point to where we get hometown discounts, just because those value based contracts would be to easy to move and if I'm the player, I don't want it to be easy to move me if that's where I want to be.

Honestly I see his comments as a compliment. We are a logical organization. The only thing we need to do is bring in a coaching staff that can put a system into place that we can bring players into and out of. We obviously know how to find talent in the draft and overseas. Now we just have to figure out a way to make it all work.

Cuban talking out of his arse again.

Did this clown not chase stars and throw max $$$ at Dwight and DWill? He failed miserably in acquiring them.

Did he not throw max money at Melo? Failed again.

Did he not break a a championship team with Chandler etc to try and acquire Dwight and financial flexibility to acquire other FA's??

Cuban - hypocrite, narcissist, bigot, idiot....

I don't understand the big deal. One, I thought we all knew that's what he was doing with the offer -- making it as painful as possible to match. Two, what did you expect him to do? Offer Parsons a reasonable deal so the Rockets could match and keep him longterm? The Mavs aren't supposed to be our friends.

Cuban had Morey pegged. And he did what he thought was best for the Mavs, which he should. And, if he could hurt an opponent -- which he did -- all the better.

Cuban's reasoning for doing that: "Maintaining financial flexibility". Sound familiar?

Big time free agents don't usually run to Texas because Texas is considered a football state. Basketball is the 4th fiddle here behind High School, College, and Pro Football. Howard is the only star player I can think of that has came to Texas in his prime. So they have to take chances on a guy like Parsons... Just like Houston took a chance with Harden.

Cuban out Morey'd Morey... Simple as that.
