I thought rings were issued by the NBA? I didn't know the owner of a team rewards the players with rings
Rings are pretty timeless, so I can't see him moving completely away from it. Maybe something in addition to it. Like Limited Championship Edition Ferraris for everyone.
Cuban gets a lot of hate, but i respect him for doing things like paying for the parade. I never got why the city had to pay. And i'm pretty sure i saw Chandler sporting a chmpionship belt in the lockeroom. Not sure if there was only one at the time. I kind of like the idea though. Rings are something that a player can get if they want to carry something with them and show it off, but many players choose to keep them stored or displayed. Either way, i'd prefer a huge ass belt to show off. Put it up on my wall after wearing it around for at least a week:grin: By the way, does anyone have an idea of how much extra money a team usually makes after a championship run? I dont mean just the NBA bonues, but also the extra revenue that comes in.
Hmmm... @:28... set up for you: <object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OFHjdYoNb_Y?start=25"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OFHjdYoNb_Y?start=25" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> "Johnny, what can you make out of this?"
Miniature championship trophies made of solid gold sort of like Oscars if not rings. Does he have a choice I thought the NBA paid for those rings?
Maybe since Cuban footed the $2 mil for the party and is paying for the parade he has decided to save money by not getting them rings and going with.
I respect Cuban more and more... I heard him talk at the MIT sports conference, and he's surprisingly a very knowledgeable guy. He's supposedly a legend in the private equity world too according to some of my classmates.
