If I was that girl's father or brother, I would drive to CU and beat Barnett to within an inch of his life for that comment.

Reporter: What is your repsonse to your former kicer claiming she was raped by your players?
Barnett: She was a crappy football player.

    WTF???

Dave Bliss and Gary Barnett deserve one another.

    What a grade-A *******.

Although his response was extremely insensitive, he was responding to a reporter's specific question about her ability as a football player.

Bobrek, no he wasn't. Trust me. The media here, and newspapers, have printed out transcriptions of the conversation. It's ugly.

What's even better is his "apology". It was something along the lines of "I'm sorry a bunch of you misinterpreted what I said and fell for the media propaganda. I rape goats as well."

Something like that. Thank God he's gone.

Nuggets4 said it for me, his comments were out of left field. The reporters in question didn't even ask about her playing abilities. He just brought it up.

And, as Nuggets4 said, his apology was like, "I'm sorry you guys screwed it up." Nice.

"The very fact that she's whining about rape underlines
what I'm saying about her toughness, see?"

  I hope nobody else hires him after he's fired. At least he'll have the headset experience to take drive-through orders.

edit: okay, maybe Texas Tech? They could have an "all rape joke" coaching staff.

I agree he's a douchebag. His comments made me laugh cause they were shocking but I'm sure if I knew Katie personally my response would have been different.

I'm sorry, Isabel. The coach seems fully capable of saying that (if you ask me), but he did not say that at all. I still just can't believe he pulled out macho football crap at a press conference about rape. It's like he has some form of Tourette's.

    What an a-hole...

I'm glad he got suspended...The problem is, he'll still coach and there may never be any accountability...

    If CU has no program?

I wonder if he''ll be too much of a financial liability for anyone to hire.

CU won't get the death penalty. Honestly, if Baylor didn't get it this off-season, it's pretty obvious that they aren't ever going to give out the death penalty ever again.
