So, if the bankruptcy petition is rejected, CSN goes away and the Rockets in all probability move quickly to broadcast their games on FSH. That sounds promising.
I don't know if I would advise getting Comcast cable at this point. If the judge sides with the Astros, it sounds like CSN-H is dead. In that case, Rockets will go from 30% of Houston to 0%.
They could, but no guarantees that negotiation would be done "quickly." Also, I wonder how realistic a portrayal the Rockets are making in their filing. If their goal is to support a chapter 11 reorganization of CSN-H, it's in their interest to say that CSN-H will die immediately without the chapter 11 case. I wonder if things are that dramatic-- maybe the Rockets will limp along on CSN-H for the remainder of the season even if the bankruptcy case is dismissed as things get negotiated out.
Best case scenario: Comcast lives. Astros get wiped off the face of the Earth and Comcast Sports Network is offered on every other cable provider allowing everyone to watch the Rockets.
Actually, best case scenario: 1) CSN dies, 2) it turns out the Rockets have already negotiated terms with FSH in the possibility of CSN's rapid demise, resulting in 3) the Rocket's first game of the season being broadcast on Fox Sports Houston, along with nearly all of the rest of their games.
The judge is supposed to rule on October 28, which is next Monday. That is before the first regular season game. It might make sense to wait and see what comes out of that, and then we will hopefully have a better idea of the lay of the land going forward.
That would be cutting off your nose to spite your face. So many people right now are angry at the Astros because they are bad, but the tables were turned quite dramatically in the early to mid-2000s when the Astros were dominating, and the Rockets were putting up first round exit after first round exit. The Astros have a longer and deeper history here in Houston outside of the last 5 years. Everything is cyclical, and the Astros are essential to the sports landscape of this city.
Rockets take different stance than Astros on CSN Houston bankruptcy http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2013/10/rockets-take-different-stance-than-astros-on-csn-houston-bankruptcy/ T_Man
This is correct. The "Astros" are nothing more than an AL expansion team with no recognizable players, let alone stars.
No thanks, I'm not their b**** any longer and never will be. I just re-upped with UVerse and now have U450, 5 receivers, HD, highest speed internet (which still sucks) Palladia, pretty much everything for $139/Month. They also gave me NBA League Pass for only $75 instead of the asking price of $189. Hoping this plays out, but in no way did I want to headaches of Comcas$ in my life again.
