So I'm sitting in the tapioca house near the walmart and dunvale just drinking a tapioca. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye this white dude grabs this girl's laptop while she was using it on the table and runs for the door. The girl gives chase out the door but the guy had a getaway car with a driver right outside the door and he jumps in and they peel out. The girl manages to get plate number and calls the cops. The 2 guys were white young dudes and the car seemed to be a late 90s Honda. Everyone in the place was frozen, it happened fast but everyone seemed more shocked this was happening. A mgr also gave chase and got a plate number too that matched what the girl had. The cops came and got statements btw. I didn't hear if they got any footage on camera.
That place sucks, serves their customers right. When you go low budget you get crime. Step it up a notch and go to TeaHouse off of Westheimer and Shep
These guys don't really fit the profile of people who would have the foresight to put stolen plates on the getaway car. They're jumping out of a car and stealing laptops, not robbing casinos.
Man I've been to that tapioca house probably 30+ times. Nice atmosphere for the most part, everyone doing their own thing. I've brought en my laptop there maybe 3-5 times when doing some school work and have never felt like I was in danger of having it stolen. Then again I'm a guy and would definitley throw some punches if someone tried to jack my laptop.
Thinking back, that dude was in the place for awhile and seemed to be striking up a conversation with the girl before he grabbed the laptop. He probably scoped the place out, saw a girl with a laptop near the door and saw the opportunity. No way he would have tried that on a dude unless he wanted to risk getting punched in the face. Not really a tapioca connoisseur, so didn't realize the rep that place has.
the walmart at dunvale @ westheimer? between richmond? where can you get a tapioca? ... next door is a sam's club and next to that is amc theater...
Yes that's the area, I forgot to mention Westheimer. Right behind Potbelly's I believe. Think the actual name is Happy Tea House.
That place has good specials, 2 for the price of 1 I believe. I once saw a man steal a girl's mp3 player right out of her hands on the subway in NYC. She didn't even give chase.
You would think that if they did that they would at least put duct tape over the license plate for the duration of their heist... As long as she got their license plate number she should be good.
That sucks so bad!!! Never ever would I bring my laptop/tablet in a public place unless I'm at the airport.. You can't even go out in public anymore just to relax for a bit without some idiot stealing ****..
