With DVR, I rarely watch commercials these days. Ummm, this wast the first time I've seen it - the whole 'demonic' baby possession thing freaks me out. *sigh* So much for my productivity level at work today...
I think this commercial went on the air about a week ago, during the WS. I liked it, although I'm kind of into these weird commercials that Sony makes (usually the SCEE branch makes them though). I liked the ones they have on their playb3yond website better ("Smarter" and "Capacity"): http://www.playb3yond.com/ They're still ads with some slightly inaccurate info (as usual), but they're pretty cool IMO. I suddenly forget his name, but they got the guy who was in the show Millennium to do the narration. The 360 is actually quite a bit more expensive, at least according to the Sony PR guys: Seriously, I guess it depends on what all you want. If you don't care about WiFi, the extra 40GB of space, and the memory card slots, you may not want the $600 PS3 but rather the $500 PS3. On the flip side, if you don't want to play games online, download demos or other downloadable content, backwards compatibility, or faster load times, you might not need the $400 Premium SKU but the $300 Core SKU. I usually see the $400 360 and the $500 PS3 as the better picks for most gamers, in which case, a $100 separates them. The PS3 will have better graphics in general, so Madden and NBA 2K7 will look and maybe play better on the PS3. Both developers are also using the motion sensing tech in the SIXAXIS controller in their games (in 2K7, you can shoot a free throw by "shooting the controller"...sort of). If that takes off, it might provide a nice gameplay element that the 360 versions of the games cannot provide. Not sure if this is a big deal anymore with online play, but I guess another advantage for the PS3 is that it supports up to 7 players at a time, which I believe NBA 2K7 will be supporting at launch. That seems kind of like overkill to me (especially since it would cost like $300-$400 to get that many controllers), but if that's what you like... If you want to play the games online, the PS3's online service is free while the 360's online service (XBL) is $50 a year IIRC. We won't know exactly how they compare until the PS3 launches, but I'm assuming that XBL will still be the better service, although whether it is $50 better is up to how much you use the features that XBL provides I guess. Both systems have some non-gaming features that are really interesting, but those probably aren't important to you I would imagine.
Sony knows the PS3 will sellout its initial 3 shipments or so in no time. They dont even have to advertise. So they just put that out there to get us. Basically saying they can put whacked out nonsense stuff on TV and we will still buy.
I like Sony's creativity (at times). I hate how they rely soley on hype (at times) and believe the public are stupid sheep that will buy whatever they put out anyway.
Not for me. I don't like being thought of as a mindless drone. I mean, all the companies think that way for the most part...I just don't want them to be so damn arrogant about it.
there goes our youth of the future, as babies stuck playing video games. damn those japanese, theyre gonna help americans get fatter, even though halo does that already.
Here are some of the PS3 commercials running in Japan that aren't quite as creepy: http://www.jp.playstation.com/movie/cm/asx/cm_ps3_taikan.asx http://www.jp.playstation.com/movie/cm/asx/cm_ps3_folk.asx http://www.jp.playstation.com/movie/cm/asx/cm_ps3_concent.asx http://www.jp.playstation.com/movie/cm/asx/cm_ps3_entotsu.asx If you don't understand the last 3, watch them again, but remember that the PS3 will launch in Japan on November 11th, or 11/11. Thanks to "one" at the Beyond3D forums for posting these.
