Hi everyone ! i am using my cousins account on this board!!!

I just turned 18 and thinking about getting a credit card.

My question is, do i just walk into a bank and ask to apply for one?

do I have to pay sum fee each month to use it? even if i dont use it do i still have to pay sum fee??? how much of a limit can i get?

^Get one with no annual fee, and plan to pay off the entire balance.

If you pay off the entire balance, the APY and finance charge won't be an issue. It might be easier to get perks like points and cash back if someone cosigns the card with you.

For a 1st timer, limits can start pretty low (500-2000), which is a good thing since paying off the entire balance is a good way of earning great credit and staying out of debt.

if you're about to go to college, trust me. you won't have trouble getting one. but if you're not careful, you could get into trouble for HAVING one.

I think you should start off with a check card/debit card. That way you only spend what you know you have. It's good practice. :D But just remember how much you got in your account, over draft fees can be killer.

Here is a better idea. Just avoid credit cards completely. Credit cards are the devil!

Credit card is great if used correctly, but you have to be responsible for your actions!
