....who?? Outside of the out-there crazies? You (DonnyMost, et al) are so ready to lump all of them into one group yet tell me I'm wrong when I say this very logic is what causes others to lump all Muslims in with terrorists. Most of the devout Christians I have known throughout my life readily accept some form of evolution, be it the God Particle or even that when God cast Adam and Eve out of Eden, he actually blasted them back to the most basic of life form, from which the world and life and humanity eventually evolved. I'm not preaching either of those things as my personal faith. I'm just saying that I've heard a million different theories and justifications from people whose faith works with modern science. The Vatican has embraced science, even going so far as to allow for other life forms on other worlds. Why is that hard to understand/comprehend/accept? It's one thing to sit and throw statistics at each other but they don't really do any good when you ask a Christian "Do you believe in Creationism? Check Yes or No" when the answer is far more likely to be "Yes, but...." We still live in a secular society. We still have the separation of church and state. This isn't going anywhere. Some of y'all act like Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps are leading some massive insurrection to take over the government and make everyone go to church or something.
Sadly I don't think these groups are quite the minority you think they are. Hell, I think some of them are currently rewriting our textbooks here in Texas.
I'll be more relief if my child is grown up as an atheist, Buddhist, Agnostic or a humanist than the others.
Pot, kettle. What is really happening is most of y'all are so reactive to some of us that you get uber-defensive when people like us simply point out the obvious. That Christian beliefs have for years, and continue to, often contradict, sometime seriously so, common scientific "truths" of the age. You guys eventually get there, albeit generally through continued re-interpretations of previous interpretations of previous interpretations of beliefs....but you do get there. In the meantime, am I concerned about things like, as Rokkit mentioned, textbooks, politics, etc. that are heavily influenced by current religious interpretations...sure, but that doesn't mean there's any you guys freaking out about a Christian dominated America. I'm just pointing out the obvious. An absurdly high % of Christians believe in creationism, in whatever form, and moreover don't believe in evolution, in most forms, despite what we factually know about the earth's history, evolution and humans. That doesn't mean a majority, just a non-logically large # and %.

I don't think you know what you're talking about when you reference the "God Particle," which, by the way, was a horrible label to be given to the Higgs Boson because it has nothing to do with God or creation.

jesus people. at least i made myself laugh. and didn't make a valued long-time member of the board just up and quit.
What's the point of your posts? Are you on some anti-talk-about-religion crusade? Maybe you should light a candle for them.
more of an anti-call-people-idiotic-due-to-their-relationship-with-god type thing. but keep on keepin on!
Cry me a freaking river... If you get butt-hurt over MY opinion of your relationship with god, then I feel really sorry for you.
