PG: Steve Kerr (Jason Kidd) SG: Danny Ainge (Jeff Hornacek) SF: Dan Majerle (Hedo Turkoglu) PF: Tom Gugliotta (Louis Amundson) C: Tom Chambers (Joe Kleine)
Good point on dream team but how good was comp? Play in competitive games? Also bosh, wade, James played well on their reincarnation dream team too. My adjustment would be zone. I'd rather have Magic dominate the touches for your team then make those adjustment u suggested.
The level of competition doesn't really matter since you were talking about alpha/support roles. I mentioned the Dream Team to prove that Bird/Magic/Jordan could play well together. Zone isnt really an adjustment. If you single cover Magic with Kidd, Magic will score almost every time. If you double, Magic will find the open player. If you have a soft double, Magic will attack to force the secondary defender to make a decision.
I have to respectfully disagree to your points. In big games, the best want to be the alpha dog. When your playing a lesser opponent, you don't feel the need or even be worthwhile to be aggressive. In a game like this, against 5 HOF, It would be interesting to see some of the GOAT scorers sit around and watch Magic. I don't understand how single coverage to zone is not an adjustment. And regardless, if you want to negate magics greatest strength - passing And not utilize Jordan as your primary weapon I would be happy with that. I would also pressure the ball as it comes up the court, milking the clock. And mix up some fronting on him.
If you are talking team players then Magic Reggie Bird Duncan Russell And I just like the idea of a Detroit team who always epitomize on Team Isiah Billups Hill Rasheed Wallace Laimbeer But at the end of it all the core of best team ever and the best 2 man duo ever will make up my TEAM of All time. Drexler Jordan Pippen Rodman Hakeem
I'll assume you're referring to Jordan since Magic/Bird have always put their teams first. If you recall, Jordan deferred to Kerr and Paxson to hit crucial shots in the finals. Jordan was highly competitive. I'm certain he would sacrifice part of his game if it meant beating a tough opponent. Why don't you detail exactly why you think zone will be effective? Magic's greatest strength is his size. And it would be fully utilized. Milking the clock? Sounds like you're being pretty dismissive about the GOAT PG. Fronting would be highly ineffective. Magic has significant height advantage over Kidd. The entry passer would simply need to lob the ball over Kidd's head and Magic would have a clear path to the basket.
Gary Payton Michael Jordan Prime Artest Tim Duncan Hakeem Ben Wallace Mutombo Battier This team is only allowed to play defense and nothing else lololol
This is mine too, shocked only you and Alvin mentioned Russell. Russell is one of the best teamplayers and defenders ever.
if everyone is in there prime i'd choose Pg - Tracy Mcgrady Sg - Kobe Bryant Sf - Lebron James Pf - Dennis Rodman C - Hakeem Olajuwon 2 Amazing Playmakers with court vision in lebron and tmac the only person who would really want the attention is kobe speedwise, amazing speed all over. post game. psh please. defense. no problem.
1) Magic Johnson 2) Allen Iverson - Most athletic guard ever, and I think Johnson has the right combination of leadership, passing skills and personal affability to get the most out of him. 3) Scottie Pippen - Prototypical Swingman for the Modern Era 4) Karl Malone - Same comments as Pippen, particulary due to workout regimen and being a 20-10 guy for twenty years. 5) Shaquille O'Neal - Olajuwon's peak was prettier to watch, but O'Neals was more dominant.
