From what I've read Greg Smith and his mum are real close! That's why they're both in Houston. I commend Smith's mum for setting a great example to Gregory for working hard. Isn't this what we want out of our Rockets players too? Not to feel entitled and to continue to work as hard as they did before getting the first pay-check? Read Greg Smith is in incredible shape! Hope mama Smith's work ethic continues to rub off on him
Coming from someone who has won half a mil, trust me, that's not enough for his mom to retire. That's not enough for him to retire, especially if he's in a relationship, has kids etc. Hopefully he's investing his money so income can be coming in from other areas besides just basketball. I'm glad his mom is working and happy about it because people are so closed minded, believing that someone close to them making/winning a million dollars means they're going to automatically be taken care of for life. Even if you win just a $, SOMEBODY is going to expect $.50... so this is good to hear. I hope she'll be able to retire when he gets his new contract.
Set that example mama Smith, keep him humble. Been reading too many athletes gone broke stories, like AI.
Props to Mommma Gregggg's. Proud to be a Rockets fan. And a Texans fan. Respectful organizations. Who can't love us?!
500k for a single man, especially in Houston, is a whole lot of money unless you're a terrible spender. I also think he'll get a new contract after his current one is up as well. How big? I'm not sure at this point. But, the chuckwagon got paid, so I think Smith has a shot of sticking around in the league for another couple of years. I expect he'll be able to make decent pay even after the NBA. So, even if he has kids, they'll still be upper middle class to borderline rich. Props to his Mom though. They may not be set, but she doesn't necessarily have to work right now either. Her strong attitude is very impressive. More people need it. Hell, more men need it.

Fine answers all! One atheist, one Cartesian, one skeptical. And we might add a Christian answer: so that we might exercise our free will. And a Borgesian one: because it is mathematically inevitable. And a Jewish one: because God wants it to. You have a problem with that?
