Wow, this is actually a very interesting stat. The Rockets' end-of-game struggles were so glaring, it overshadowed the fact that they played pretty well the rest of the time. I like McHale, but I am worried that if he stays, he won't make the necessary tweaks and changes to the game plan that are necessary to improve this team. Every game, they looked stagnant and clueless in the last few minutes. It seemed more like luck than skill when the successfully executed a few times at the end. Some of it may be youth and nerves, but I was not impressed by the players' preparedness and organization in close games. Too many mistakes.
Their largest lead was 9 points the entire series. pretty sure. Defense. That is what needs correcting. Scoring is not the problem. IMO>
Actually you could say the same thing about Portland. I was amazed how scattered and confused they looked at the end of games, stiffing shots often. Sound familiar ? I really felt that.
