liberty lunch i had some really really good times there myself. yeah i wish sometimes to go back to those times...
I was on 6th St. last night but I was at the Flamingo Cantina watching the Toasters and the Stingers. It's the only time I've been on 6th St. when I haven't been playing a gig.
I was at Pete's Piano bar last night trying to get a job and I saw some craziness across the street at Coyote Ugly. We talked to one of the guys there at the end of the night and it looks like a pretty fun place. I'm 30 now and 6th street has been old for a long time, but I ended up working there for the past 9 months until our bar shut down. It can be a fun place to work.
I agree with everyone here that 6th is/has been going downhill. 4th is ten times better in my opinion. The only thing that sucks is driving back to San Marcos at 2 am.
If you're looking for live music, it's not on 4th either. Try Saxon Pub, Continental Club, Little Ginny's Longhorn Saloon, Broken Spoke, Threadgill's (when they have band's on the patio) or on occasion, Stubb's.
Spike TV is kicking off a COyote Ugly Reality Show and it is starting Friday night at 610's party at Buffalo Wild Wings Rice illage. Ya'll shouild come. Chance
Sure. I always thought that was a cool name for a club. That's been about 20 years, right? Time flies.
Can anyone tell me how they came up with the name "Coyote Ugly" and how that translates into bar where hot chicks work? thanks
dont know what u guys expect from 6th street...its part of UT now....of course frat people go down there....there are plenty of slum there also but i enjoy it still...considering im in college still...petes piano bar is a great place to relax....
The coyote thing is pretty funny. My friends and I used to go to the one in NY, and they had some good looking bartenders and some that weren't so hot. It wasn't too crowded when we went, and there was this goofy guy from South Carolina who was always there. The South Carolina guy liked being the closes thing to a real cowboy in the place and I believe he felt threatened by Texans coming into the bar. He was mostly harmless and just got a little grumpy. It was really fun, until it started getting popular, and that brought in a bunch of annoying a-holes. Then the movie came out and somehow it appeared like everyone who ever worked there was a hot model type. Now that's the legend, and it's much cooler than the reality. I guess they are franchising the legend. It's pretty crazy.
I hear ya. Last night was really my first time in Austin since I came to San Marcos. Houston Show's usually end at Midnight or 12:30. I hadn't really gone to a show that ended at 1:30 before. I got back to San Marcos about 2. Woke up at 6:30 and have been dragging ever since. I'm going to bed guys. Good Night.
Lucy's was my favoirte bar when I moved to Austin. RIP Hey Drew, do you have a new cell? Give me a shout. I just moved out off of 2222 and 620.
When I first moved to Austin in 2000, my favorite place to go was any crowded, noisy, sweaty, nasty club I could get into, considering I had just turned 18. Now that I'm 21, I stay as FAR away from those places as possible. I've only been to 6th street once in the past 2 years, and I'm actually kinda proud of that. Why go there when you've got places like Crown & Anchor, Dog & Duck, Hole In The Wall, etc, etc? Sheeit, going to a pool hall and getting drinks is better than 6th nowadays.
The name refers to when someone wakes up from a drunken one-night stand, and finds that the person they slept with is lying on their arm and ugly as hell. In fact, they are so ugly that they would gnaw off their arm to escape unnoticed.
