I said 8-8 type They absolutely should beat Seattle and St. Louis, so I figure somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7. If they go 5-11 or 6-10, he has to be gone no matter what.
Yes they did. I would prefer an experienced guy but if it doesn't work out, hire the best guy available. Leslie Fraizer and Mike Zimmer should be the hot coordinators who get a ton of interview this offseason for head coaching jobs. I wouldn't mind either if they don't get somebody like Cowher or Gruden. By the way, Frazier's son plays at Rice.
Didn't Gruden sign an extension to stay on MNF? I know those things typically don't mean s***, but why would he do it mid-season if he thought he'd want to return to the sideline next season? I'd consider Holmgren for the front office. That's really not a bad idea...in a Parcells type roll. President of Football Operations or something to that effect...
Questions: 1) What has Rick Smith done to indicate he shouldn't be allowed to stay on as a GM? but, if you do get rid of him... 2) What has Mike Holmgren done to indicate he's capable of being a good GM
Frazier, I think would be a good choice if we couldn't get Cowher or Gruden. I prefer a defensive guy. It would be perfect if we could get a great defensive coach, and somehow keep Kubes as the OC/Assistant Head Coach, or just keep Shannahan. I think Perry Fewel in Buffalo could eventually make a good head coach. I would pass on him now though. He needs a few years grooming.
I didn't say fire Rick Smith. Parcells is not the GM of the Dolphins. Granted, he did bring in his own people. If McNair went this direction and allowed Holmgren this kind of position, he'd have to allow him to make his own personnel decisions. What in Parcells past indicated that he would have been a good GM? I don't think you can fairly judge those that tried the head coach/gm roll. If Holmgren's time is dedicated to one roll, who's to say he wouldn't do much better at it...like when he was just the head coach at Green Bay?
If it was offered, he be stupid not to go ahead and accept it. There's no downside since he can always walk if he becomes a head coach. But if he doesn't, then he's got next year's job locked up already.
