yeah I agree and so does my good friend the Tuna too! ok it was from yahoo news ``I just couldn't keep him in the plans,'' Parcells said. ``I'm saddened by this because I've got 18 months invested in it ... two offseason programs and a regular season and a playoff game.'' Very true. But why do they have these two in the same sentence in the news, is Tim Brown going to Cowboys now?! Amid rumors of a failed drug test, the quarterback who started all 16 games for Dallas last season was cut from the team on Wednesday. In Oakland, the Raiders said goodbye to one of their most prolific receivers by announcing plans to release Tim Brown. I mean hey, you never know.
Damn. People stay off the Rock. I think the team will be better off long term for the decision but it puts a big question mark on this season.
Fox news reported it was an NFL drug test and that the most he would have gotten was a 107,000 fine. The Cowboys didnt have to cut him, but they did. I don't blame Jerry Jones. I still feel excited about the season and possibilities with the team. Cant wait for the season to start! ok, no more cocaine busts.
On one of those talking head shows "PTI", "ATH" or "I, Max" one of the journalists stated that according to the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, an NFL player cannot be cut b/c of a drug fine / suspension. If this is true, could Quincy appeal the "cut"???
i was gonna say the exact same thing. coke only takes a few days at the most to get out of one's system.... either he did a hell-of-a-lot of blow or did some the day before his drug test. either way, he's an idiot. and just one day after the ESPN crew was giving him all sorts of praise.
This is r****ded. I'm going to pay you millions to play football. Millions. MMMiiiiilllions. You will earn in one year what most people will never dream of in a life time. Your job is this: Work out hard...play hard...AND...don't do anything illegal. Let me repeat...to earn MILLIONS of dollars....work out hard...play hard....don't do anything illegal. You don't have to paint a house, dig a ditch, invest and hope to hit it rich, fight crime, be in the office 8 to 5 270 days a year, fight fires, go to school for 8 years, perform surgery, take care of sick kids...you don't have to clean bathrooms, walk dogs, sweep floors, stitch clothes, mow lawns, sit in a cubicle, code a program, do someone's taxes, cold call someone, commute 2 hours 270 days a year, change diapers, haul trash...you don't have to worry about bills, owning a house, how to make your car payment, which can of spinach is cheaper, clip coupons, compare car insurance rates, worry about roaming minutes, or worry about where the next rent check is going to come from. You are SET FOR LIFE with MILLIONS of dollars and you ONLY job is to work out hard, play hard, and don't do anything ILLEGAL...yet time after time, these dumbasses screw it up.
I read an interesting little story on the Cowboys official site. There were these fans that received some QC jerseys from Carter's mother yesterday along with some cards, I think. Perfect timing. They said they'd keep the stuff though, since they feel they are apart of the family now. If I'm an athlete, I'd think twice before having my mother give them some stuff. They had something on the site that said he was apart of a drug program and was subject to drug testing. I don't know if that means that the Cowboys can do one any time they want and cut him because of it or something else.
Supermac34...excellent post. I guess if you don't have any real trouble you have to manufacture some for yourself...just to keep things interesting.
I don't know how he could be successful. The Cowboys aren't saying they cut him because of any drug-related issues. What's the best that can happen for him? He wins the appeal and then gets cut when the Cowboys have to trim their roster coming out of training camp and have too many QBs on the roster? The only way it could possibly make any difference would be if the rule said a player could not be cut at all while he's in the substance abuse program (and if that were the case, if I was in danger of not making the team, I'd take up drugs really quickly).
Here's Carter's words about it: I took this part from the ESPN article. So, if he is telling the truth, which can be question considering he said he would be the team's leader, cocaine wasn't what he used. Wonder if I should "hope" that it was some kind of performance enhancing stuff which he thought he would use to become better, although I don't really hope for that.
Ok for the last time. . . . . 2001 $209,000 2002 $300,000 +2003 $389,000 ------------------------ $898,000 Wow look at all those Miiiilons he made
Lookit this pic, damn pitiful! I hope Quincy is ok no matter what the heck is going on. Drugs are bad, MMKAY?! Just sad, sad, sad. Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Quincy Carter leaves his hotel after being unexpectedly released from the team Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, in Oxnard, Calif. With Carter's release 40-year-old veteran Vinny Testaverde was handed the starting quarterback's job. OK...close enough. Still more than 99% of Americans...plus you think that his base salary is all he gets paid? He would have made a bunch more money after this year anyways.
I guess we will never know why he was actually released seeing as how nobody has to publicly comment about the situation. I think that just plain sucks to not know and just send them on their merry way. There is too much secrecy going on here. The fans have a right to know why a football team cuts a player in my opinion. What is this...the Homeland Football Department?
