Williams finished the regular season with an NFC-leading 1,310 receiving yards and 82 receptions -- both career highs -- despite missing most of the Week 5 game at Minnesota (Oct. 8). Final Entry -- Sunday, February 11 "I feel pretty good. The flight was shorter this time. We left right after the game, and I was tired so I slept most of the way. When I woke up there were two hours left. So I played my Playstation and came on home. "It's good to be home. A week in Hawaii is long enough. Good trip. Makes you want to go back. I was the only person (for the Lions) who got to take a picture with the hula girls, the only person that got to be introduced. You know, everybody else had teammates. Me and (defensive end) Derrick Burgess from Oakland were the only ones with the only representative. "One of my favorite parts of the week leading up to the game was playing golf with my family. Laughing and joking with my brothers and my uncle because my uncle's the funny guy in the family. Makes us laugh all the time about stupid stuff. "I golfed terrible. I think I shot a 119. I was taking pictures of the golf course while we were on the golf course. It was pretty scenery. We were just out there having a good time. One of my brothers can't golf at all. He swung at the golf ball seven times, we counted. Seven times and whiffed all seven times. Aw, man, we were dying. "My other favorite part of the week … I would have to say practicing every day with the guys. Just seeing what kind of field they have and try to compare. I would compare them with my teammates; whether my teammates are better than this guy and all that stuff. But the thing that got me the most was sitting there after the player introductions; I think San Diego had 11? Or 13. That's where we need to be." Day 2 Entry -- Friday, February 9 “The last couple days have been good. It’s been a good experience. It makes you want to come back. Today we go down to the stadium. There’s supposed to be 10,000 people there. It’s not really practice; it’s more of a walkthrough type deal. “This hasn’t been what I expected. You always see the pictures and stuff like that but you really have to come down here for this stuff. Being here as a Pro Bowler, it feels a little bit different getting to see all the elite of the elite: Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson – shoot, Marvin Harrison. You name it, they’re here. “For the skills challenge (best hands), you know how they do the wide receiver drills at the combine where you run straight down the line and you’re looking one way and they throw it; you keep running and they throw it the other way? That’s what we had to do. “You just had to run all the way down catching it and then turn around and come back the other way catching the ball. It’s just the fastest man, really, because nobody dropped any balls. They weren’t really showcasing anybody’s hands. “It was just who can run down there the fastest and come back the fastest. I made a bobbling catch the last ball going down one way off Tony Romo. So I take a moral victory because I still have the best hands with the bobbling catch. “Things have been laid back. I wish my practices were like these practices (laughing). We call it a walkthrough but it’s kind of a little jog-through. That’s what it is – an hour practice. “(Coach Sean Payton) is laid back. There’s times when we fumble the snap or something and he says get back on the line or something just like any other coach would. But he’s a cool guy.” Day 1 Entry -- Tuesday, February 6 “The flight was long. Eight hours. I slept and woke up; slept and woke up; slept and woke up – three times … and still had four hours to go; pretty long flight. So I was happy for the touchdown. “When I got here it was still light; my room has a pretty good view of all that water. There’s a whole bunch of water. “(The difference between here and) Odessa is a whole bunch of water. If you took out all this water and put some dirt, then we’re talking Odessa. Where’d they get all this water? And palm trees … they’ve got all sorts of stingrays and exotic fish – we don’t have that in Odessa. I am definitely avoiding the water. I will not get into the water while I’m here. They have a nice pool – I might get in the pool – but I will not get in the Pacific Ocean by any means. “Practice was good. I didn’t drop any balls. Laughing and joking with some of the players. I was lining up and (Carolina DT) Kris Jenkins was like, ‘Man you skinny. You look bigger on TV.’ I was like, ‘You know, TV adds 10 pounds.’ It was fun. “But just to be around all these all-stars, it’s kind of like: what if we really were a team? What if we really played people? What if I play with these guys 16 weeks and we go to the Super Bowl? That’s how I look at it and then I compare these players to our players. Is he better than Big Shaun or is he better than Kevin Jones? But it’s fun. “I actually shook (Marvin Harrison)’s hand, I just told him congratulations. I guess he just got here. Saw him, shook his hand, he’s not Jerry Rice yet, but he’s close though. “The best hands competition, I really am excited. I really hope I don’t have to run around and catch the ball. Maybe I can just stand there and catch the ball. Not have to run and bend over or fall through hoops – then I don’t think I’ll win it. But if I’m just sitting there and can catch the football I think I’ll have a good chance. “One thing I can say – you look at the pictures or you see those people on Cribs with their houses on a lake and they say, ‘I come out here and read a book’ or ‘I come out here and just look at the water because it’s so peaceful.’ But ‘yeah, right whatever.’ Or ‘It’s so beautiful. This postcard I got is so beautiful.’ ‘Yeah, right.’ But it’s a beautiful thing. It really is. And it is very peaceful; I understand what people are saying now.”
In 2006, the offensive line was just as horrendous giving up 63 sacks which was nearly 20 more than the next team and they has the 32nd ranked rushing attack.
Did he make it the Pro Bowl as others here seem to have implied that he did not? and to counter the next remark, I NEVER mentioned what season his numbers were from. Tinman 14 Clutchfans who don't like him calling Roy Williams a 'Pro Bowler' 0
Detroit Sucks, so you think Roy Williams isn't a good receiver? you imply that he doesn't deserve the 'pro bowl' label.
We can say NBA ALL STAR RON ARTEST even though its been 2004 since he's made it. but saying PRO BOWLER ROY WILLIAMS (2007) is taboo I believe its the hate for the Horns cause we're #1 and any former longhorn gets hate
He made the Pro Bowl 2 years ago but you implied he was putting up Pro Bowl numbers this year, which he clearly is not, then corrected your statement and made it not so vague.
He made the Pro Bowl once so he gets the Pro Bowl label by default. He is a good receiver but as I stated earlier in the thread he is not in the upper echelon of receivers in the league. He is not Owens, Johnson, Fitzgerald, and I can name several others. He's better than most but not one of the best.
Roy Williams is a stud, he beat Nick Saban's LSU Team that won the National Championship a year later by himself in the Cotton Bowl. I'm not saying this cause of the Cowboys, this dude could catch and has all the physical skills of #1 receiver
As stated, you said he was putting up Pro Bowl numbers and he only did one season. I'm not saying you can't call him a Pro Bowler but this year and the last two he has been nothing special on basically the same team as 2006.
You can call him (RW) whatever you want, you can't say he has had Pro Bowl years this year and the last two though.
I was reacting to your "was putting up Pro Bowl numbers" statement. Yeah you can call him a Pro Bowler and he was putting up Pro Bowl numbers.....back in 2006.
should I start a thread for you and Mo called "Evidence that Roy Williams made the Pro Bowl?" or "Who is Pro Bowl Roy Williams?"
No, I just don't think you are understanding what I am saying. I do not deny that he made the Pro Bowl, I do not deny that he put up Pro Bowl numbers (1 season), I do not deny that he is a good receiver. He just hasn't been that spectacular this season or last. I don't know, maybe you're just being facetious.
