Is that a new rule? I'm pretty sure the Ravens have tagged Chris McCallister multiple years in a row, and I know for a fact that Seattle did it with Walter Jones for like 3 or 4 seasons early in the decade.
well then I stand corrected. I believe I had read some reasons why he was likely to be a fa in 09 as opposed to 08, but I really don't remember them and they could have been total bunk for all I know. I guess that softens the blow then. I know Roy is worth a 1st and a 3rd. And most of the big time players on the cowboys are locked up long term so the cap space he'll end up taking wont be that big of a deal either. I guess he is the TO insurance for if/when he flames out.
This is a steal for the Cowboys, Roy was putting up Pro-Bowl numbers with the worst team in the NFL. Now they have TO and Roy, that's crazy.
Pro Bowl numbers? Are you watching the same Roy Williams everybody else is? I'm willing to bet he is not in the top 50 players dealing with receiving yards and he only has 1 TD that I know of.
I really hope that, in practice, when Roy Williams tackles Roy Williams a rip in the space-time continuum will occur and the entirety of Dallas will be sucked into a black hole.
To be fair, I truly believe he's been just showing up to cash his paycheck in Detroit, ala Randy Moss in Oakland. Supposedly Roy has been really wanting to get out of Detroit for a while, and to D in particular. We'll see what Roy really has in the tank once he gets to D and gets in the flow of the offense.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and pretend he was speaking prior to this season. There's no doubt that R.Williams is talented pro-bowl caliber WR. Getting out of that hell hole in Detroit should work wonders for him. I still think there isn't enough balls to go around in Dallas though.
I agree, and said earlier in this thread that he will certainly perform better in Dallas. I was merely pointing out the lunacy of calling his numbers this season "Pro-Bowl type"
He had a great 2006 season and good 2007 season. He plays for the Lions, this is similar to Randy Moss with the Raiders, then Randy Moss goes to the New England and all of the sudden he's good again. Randy Moss was always good, he was on the Raiders. you can be the best race car driver in the world and won't win they Daytona 500 in a Prius.
the lions can squeeze this out of Jerry Jones, and Carl Peterson can't get one 2nd round pick for Tony Gonzales. shoot me.
maybe I should have pointed out the exact year.. http://www.detroitlions.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=454974 Lions fans -- experience the Pro Bowl with Lions' wide receiver Roy Williams, who has made his first trip to Honolulu after a solid 2006 season. Williams finished the regular season with an NFC-leading 1,310 receiving yards and 82 receptions -- both career highs -- despite missing most of the Week 5 game at Minnesota (Oct. 8).
