As Feigen surmised, this call-up is most likely related to the Rockets being in the midst of a decent-length home stand with plenty of practice time. The coaches want to have bodies for practice; plus, it gives the staff a little time to see Covington's development first-hand. I highly doubt Covington coming to Houston is a sign of a trade or a change in the rotation. It's most likely all about PRACTICE. [Cue the Allen Iverson quotes in 3... 2... 1...]
Considering how much Tjones and Dmo had to prove to McHale to get any playing time, i doubt Covington will play any meaningful minutes.
o man I hope somehow he cracks the rotation for some solid playing time. Really believe he can help us right now, especially on D. Will be great to have Bev back for Portland!
I assumed the Vipers have a few days between games and this is just to get Covington some practice with the team in between time.
not really, he cant defend traditional PF, but he could defend Stretch PF's, that are normaly SF's, similar to Parson.
After the OKC nightmare, I did tweet Morey that the Vipers could probably have scored more and that we need some call-ups. Man, our rotation is so shot. Now if only McHale would give Canaan and Covington a shot. You know when no one else can shoot.
btw no way that embarrassing loss happened without Les calling Daryl (or maybe even McHale directly), signalling changes need to happen or else ... Les did that early in his McHale's first season. He had a talk with McHale after a losing streak
