Rodeo vendor speaking to Ch.2: "It's all a big hype. Whoever made this decision, I can't tell you how I feel about you."
Lombardy (Milano) alone today has 149 new deaths, 1489 new cases . Waiting for the rest of italy numbers.
i'll raise you in arbitraryness https://nypost.com/2020/03/11/seatt...250-or-more-people-including-sporting-events/
Any number they pick is going to be arbitrary though. I think the plan to relocate games is dumb - just play them without fans. You're just creating a mass gathering somewhere else by relocating, and possibly increasing travel from the people in your city that might decide to go to those games.
Very interesting thanx for posting. Lets hope this is right. Im now in orange zone and in 2 weeks it could be even the crimson zone. But it doesnt take into account age. Most of the countries in red zones are also young. Even if the whole of India, Egypt, Brazil got infected they wouldnt bat an eye. Like 1/3+ of their population are under 30, and their over 80 are scarce. *Africa with endemic HIV is a different story.
Turner: Reason we are here is the Coronavirus & bring people up to date. Up until yesterday, all of the cases confirmed in Ft. Bend, Harris, City of Houston, all of those cases related to international travel & all of them with exception of one were directly tied to the Egyptian Cruise Line. That was up until yesterday. Then we had one in Montgomery County not tied to international travel & situation took place within our region. That changed things. As a result, we said we would monitor this situation & make adjustments as we went along, doing what we needed to do to keep people safe based on the facts, science & medical advice. Yesterday changed things. With the case in Montgomery County, that is community spread. By end of today, I will be signing an emergency health declaration for the City of Houston, which will remain in place for 7 days as we assess the situation. Depending on where we are, City Council will have to vote to continue that declaration. To the HLSR that we deeply love & support, they are impacted by the decision & changing of events. As of today, the concerts will come to an end. It will impact the remaining concerts & events. That is not the only event. As you know, this coming week is the Tour de Houston. It will be rescheduled. If we can't rescheduled, it'll be cancelled. (Mentioned some other things)
I dont get where people dont like Turner. This dude has been a great common-sense mayor from my perspective.
So...what exactly is the declaration declaring? Just that all these events are being rescheduled/cancelled? What else does it entail?
