Reknown french virologist Luc Montagnier who received the 2008 Nobel prize for discovering the HIV virus in 1982, claims that the Covid19 virus is man made. According to him since 2000 Wuhan's lab is specialised in coronaviruses and Covid19 shows many similarities with HIV and it was an attempt for an HIV vaccine, that by accident escaped the lab. He currently works as a fulltime professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. Honestly I believe he has dementia. He also claimed in 2010 that DNA causes electromagnetic waves.
While clearly this scientist seems to have lost his marbles the more data that comes to light, the more plausible and possible it seems that the source of the virus was Wuhan's lab. Of course not as a bioweapon or an engineered virus, but as an accidental leak.
People do not know Wuhan that well. The city is nothing special, it happens that there is a virological Center nearby. If you focus feverishly on one place, other places of interests would fade. That is not how you investigate. Diversify. I also believed there was a conspiracy going on but that was back in February. Now I am at least all ears to all the scientists.
Lol nope. Nice try for propaganda by the china daily. The BATS species lives in south China. And their feces were the virus was isolated from, were collected to be studied in 2013. Collected to be studied by whom? Wuhan's bio lab that specialises in coronaviruses.
Wuhan may be nothing special but the lab in Wuhan is. The only security level 4 in all of China. The only that focus on cironaviruses and was studying bats. If I am found dead by a bullet tomorrow and the only one who owns a gun in the island is my next door neighbour who is going to be the suspect? Sure it could be a stranger psycho who just happened to pass by, but the most suspicious is the one who lives next door.
It was reported in Austria and other countries as well. It came from the University of Cambridge and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. I reckon you were fond of the British sources. https://www.oe24.at/coronavirus/Coronavirus-Erster-Fall-schon-am-13-September/426735237 https://www.rt.com/news/486194-stud...m_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=RSS/
I arent actually. And certainly something that the only connection with geographical origin to make the conclusion of the original spillover is the place that the bats live. Whereas the bats also lived in the centre of Wuhan since 2013. Because they were being studied there. And lo and behold the outbreak happened also in Wuhan instead of Yuanan. The species of the bats was known since February so nothing new.
Bats live everywhere and including other parts of China and Southeast Asia. In caves. This is exactly why there will be new theories and updates, the older ones were inconclusive. Nobody is talking Yunnan, I have been there, their approach with wildlife is better than in much of the country. Surely, you can't take them totally out of it but they should be looked into when the prime spots bore no fruit. Guilin and Canton are the places you have to look......Some Cantonese eat everything.
No. This virus has 96% same genes with a bat virus from Yuanan. That was the parent. A Yuanan bat virus. That scientist thinks that the spillover came from south china because thats where these particular virus infected bats live whereas the virus was being studied right next door in Wuhan. Who knows very possible that the first spillover from a bat to pangolin had already happened in the lab and they were studying a novel pangolin coronavirus. Nothing wrong with that. So long as you have good security which they didnt. Leaks from labs have happened many times. Even leaking spallpox I believe.
Also you missed the point. The relevant part wasn't where it is from, but the statement in the article that it could have survived and hid inside a human or animal for weeks or months without transmission until it mutated to its contagious form. If it is a human or domesticated animal, endangered animal or livestock it is very likely to be moved around. No telling where it originated. That is the scary part. (And there is no Yuanan, it is spelled Yun Nan. Wuhan's market called Huanan.)
Texas is almost dead last in testing. Kinda crazy to believe anything the models say and even more-so to open up businesses without having adequate testing available for all employees.
I am sorry I have a problem with chinese toponyms but I am trying. Yun Nan then , the county in south China. There is the geographical and then there is the chronological line to be followed with the virus. Phylogenetic can give a clue about the chronological timeline and by association the geographical source. However when the source itself was moved out of place to be studied in the lab next door , then the place of the original bats is irrelevant. The chronology can't answer whether the origin was a leak in the lab, because as easily and in fact EASIER, the animal reservoir could be in the lab. A lab animal pangolin could live more in a lab than in a butcher farm. Why doesn't china track down the pangolins in Yun Nan if they want to put an answer once and for all? Check hundreds of them to find if any have the intermediate link? Isolate and publish the results? But instead the CCP is hiding the truth and banning any study on the source of the virus? If it is natural spillover event, it will be more dangerous for the Chinese people, if pangolins out there are natural reservoirs that are transmitting Covid 19 right now. They WILL find for sure eventually the intermediate species, whether it is a pangolin or not. They even have found out the year that the flu evolved to type C and D from a common ancestor. 482 AD.
Belgium is almost through with their peak and they are publishing the most detailed data. Get this in 1000+ tested positive in elderly homes, Only 1 in 4 personel was symptomatic. About 2 in 4 elderly was symptomatic. So not only there are a lot asymptomatic younger people but a lot of elderly too. However we don't know how they ended up or will end up after 2 weeks Right now the deaths from the elderly homes are twice the deaths from hospitals in Belgium.
There are some pretty horrifying first hand accounts and of course data on the deaths/hospitalizations from nursing homes in America, too. For those that said... it's an old person problem mainly, let them get it and cross your fingers for everyone else... well, kind of that's what's happened. And when they get it, they get it. Wonder what it will do to the nursing home industry over the next couple decades once the dust settles. With the advent of tele-medicine, in home visits, etc., one has to think the industry will see a sharper decline. Of course I guess the alternative is more Italy like, with lots of multi-generational households, which didn't work out that great either...
cases is a horrible metric, it doesn't account for population, population density, and wide variability in testing levels over space and time I would look at the trend for % of tests that are positive Or you could look at the change in tests vs cases (i.e if tests increase by 10% and cases increase by 1%, that's a good trend), but I think that's essentially the same thing.
I saw something the other day that in a homeless shelter, 38% of the population were positive and all of them were asymptomatic.
That is probably 3 or 4 topics and one slightly political off-topic one about the interests of the CCP whose competence is vastly overrated at times. One can write dissertations on each of them. Now let's just start with the dreaded question why scientists think it is unlikely that it came from a lab. Basically they do not think mankind can create a pathogen that mutates perfectly. They think humans might create an improved version of SARS but it would mutate into its own demise. There is always a chance of conspiracy among the scientists..... I will, however, talk about the other issues later. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/14/covid-19-origin-lab-general-mark-milley
