I think it will be well below that 263k average. Closer to 70k-90k seems likely to me.

Had a conversation with one of my neighbors who's a nurse. She offered these tidbits....

    - incubation is up to 21 days (yeah that sucks)

    - the virus waits until you're most vulnerable to hit (lack of sleep, after a night of drinking, etc)

    - there will be drugs to lessen the symptoms by the next wave (this fall)

    - infection can happen from clean hands touching the virus already on your face, then you touch your mouth/nose (really limit any face-touch)

    - she thinks the virus has already mutating, getting more contagious (I think it's the fact America hasn't taken things seriously enough)

    - you can use something as simple as a napkin for a quick mask -- assuming your hands and napkin are sterile (I personally like shielding my mouth and nose while conversing -- looks awkward, but YOU'RE WELCOME)

    - she heard about a tobacco expert/farmer growing a possible cure/treatment (not sure what to make of that.. we'll see...)

Remember the mask protects against the airborne droplets that the virus travels in. It isn't for virus sized objects. This tweet you posted is not accurate for this type of virus.

On the mutating point, this is closely being watched by the CDC. It’s one of the reasons we had to wait so long for those original tests. The CDC didn’t just want to have a more accurate test, they wanted to track the genetics. This virus has remained pretty darn stable so far according to everything I’ve read. One of the interesting tidbits is that these types of viruses tend to get less deadly, not more. We “select “ for the less deadly versions because we treat and quarantine the more serious ones when/if they do mutate while the less serious continue on.

All models are wrong, but some are useful.

In case people don't know, N95 is an American standard put out by NIOSH. Other countries have roughly equivalent standards, if you are digging deep for masks, I imagine "N95" has got to be at the top of keyword searches over the last month. Maybe you can find something certified under another standard that would be just as good.

    China - KN95
    Korea - 1st Class
    Europe - FFP2
    Australia/NZ - P2
    Japan - DS

The standards differ a bit, but not enough that you could tell.

Yeah, the banks got bombarded. It's one of those times where having a real relationship with your bank helped.

Nations with Mandatory TB Vaccines Show Fewer Coronavirus Deaths

New study finds a correlation, but clinical trials are still in progress

Correlation is not causation, but some hope for silver linings, esp. for 3rd world/developing countries with high vaccination rates:

When I read about this correlation a few days ago, they were still wondering why France, who's invented the BCG vaccine and unlike Italy conducted the compulsory mass BCG vaccination for six decades, is an outlier in terms of this study, with their current Covid death rate (currently the 6th deaths/1M pop with 7,560 deaths out of 89,953 cases).

Still interesting findings. Curious to see their result.
