Again, most the people I know and the carts I saw were not just toilet paper but many staples as well. I agree someone just purchasing toilet paper is foolish but I don’t think that was the case.

I joked with @rimrocker about preparing for the apocalypse but I did acquire a 3 month supply of desirable food and another 3 months of less desirable food. I increased my firearm arsenal by nearly double and have 10 adults now living on my property that do not leave my property. It sounds absurd but I am not regretting it right now. If it is better in a month, then everyone goes home and I donate staples to the food bank and resell the guns for close to what I paid for them.

Because that is exactly what is happening. The wealthy, famous and powerful ARE getting preferential treatment.

Hell the USA got 500,000 tests from Italy simply because the USA is the unquestioned most powerful nation in the world. The OKC Thunder used something like 25% of the tests in Utah at the time. Now all these NBA players are being tested when asymptotic.

    Washington is being tested repeatedly.

    Everyone else? Go **** yourself.

That's awesome!! I unfortunately don't have n95 masks or I'd do the same, I might have a few p95 and while I read they might work per cdc they're overly used from various projects I've done (like I'd replace them if I was doing another home/car project).

Regardless that's really good on you, my friends in health care I'm worried about with the lack of supplies.

now that the epidemic has entered the west, a new risk factor seems to have been emerging.
    Obesity.
Younger people without any other serious comorbidities (no diabetes, no cardiological or renal issues) are ending up in the ICU because they are obese or overweight.

I am waiting to see if a study is written about this.

Are they voluntarily doing it or has the president invoked the Defense Production Act of 1950?

We're beefing up manufacturing on the masks... you wonder if the short-term shortage could be improved through logistics. States and areas with few cases should move their stock to places like NY. Use data to move stock systematically. Like blood cells attacking a virus.

Volunteering so far. But could theoretically be forced.

If the time comes. And I need a ventilator. Please God don't let it be a Ford.

Is it weird that I feel guilty if I can't go to work tomorrow because of my 2 year olds test?

I'm waiting on a call back to tell me if I go to work tomorrow or I'm off until his results are back. Common sense money is on me being off till the test comes back. Common sense doesn't always prevail though...

New York City is considered The Gateway to Europe --- Italy, UK, Spain, and France (all problem areas)

The West Coast (Washington and California) is heavily influenced by Asia --- China (huge problem area).

I woke this morning and saw this on TMZ and became furious. Absolutely horrible. I think the store employees who participated in this need to be exposed as well. This woman needs to be shamed on an international level. I guess there are different levels of hoarding and this unacceptable. She probably was going to try to sell them though, but regardless, still an awful person.

I'm thinking it'll end up being a bit of both. Like they know cars aren't being sold so this could make them look like heroes after this etc..
