Been meaning to post on this thread for a while. I feel like I posted this already but I don't feel like going through all the pages to verify so I'll just post it for the first time/or again. I love the lyrics to Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer" but I think the actual song is blah. This dude from American Idol about 10 years ago or so I don't remember, did one of the best covers I've heard. Just made it his own as they say.
On the R&B ish side of things. I always felt MC Hammer's version of "Have you seen her" was better than the original by The Chi-lites Also Dru Hill's version of "The Love we had stays on my mind" just eeks past the original by The Dells (Sisqo took it to a higher level)
I LOVE Kate Bush. She's phenomenal....but Maxwell is also a brilliant singer and I think his version of "This Woman's Work" is better
Bruce is another one I LOVE and "Dancing in the dark" is a classic. Here are two good covers that might be better I dunno. I love them all.
Lastly, following up from the last video I posted by Cannons, they seem to just sprinkle gold dust on every cover they take on. "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon has a bunch of covers and most are good-great but this one is just perfection to me. Also, if you haven't listened to Cannons before, check them out. I think they've put out two albums since they started out and they're pretty dope to me. (The lead singer is also kinda pretty so that helps lol). If you're a fan of that Indiepop/electropop vibe then you'll like them.
I've always liked the Lee DeWyze version. Here is a very nice cover of it by Shawn Colvin and Allison Krause.
