and as someone that had the same knock on him, I can now say that taht was overstated, his game will def overshadow those critiques now
Yeah, let's not get too carried away here. One thing about Cousins is that coaching will be a big factor with him. He has motivational issues, and definitely needs help keeping himself fit. Not to mention 20-10 is a ridiculous standard. Not even Yao usually get to those numbers. And Cousins IMO doesn't have the upside of Yao(health issues notwithstanding).
We'll see. NBA is a grind, can he maintain his motivation and work ethic? Talent only takes you so far, you have to want it.
i agree. Turner will never be a superstar, maybe not even an allstar the kings have a bright future. they are just missing a few key pieces to the puzzle.
Teams, including the Rockets, tried hard to move to 4 to take him, but Kahn just loved Wes Johnson too much.
I would have been super excited had we been able to trade up and get him. He was clearly and franchise center and down the line I think he will end up being better than DH.
Please, stop hating. The big men were just part of the team as a whole that won that city championships. They couldn't have done without Kobe, just as much as Kobe couldn't have done it without them.
I just hope he gets the opportunity to show what he can do on the court once the real season starts (read: let's hope Tyreke improves his ball distribution skills).
I hope weight and work ethic is not an issue for cousins. He def has the skills to be great, but his character is going to be the key to his success. Speaking of character, you look at a guy like Derrick Caracter who has come into Summer League in great shape and a great attitude. He has had issues in the past, but i really think that he will be opening a lot of eyes this year. Lakers did a tremendous job this draft by drafting Ebanks and Caracter. Both great picks for where they were drafted.
Clearly his post moves are better right now. So is his passing, and he can actually shoot further than four feet away from the basket... If he can become a freak of nature at rebounding...
I don't know where this motivation issues comes from. Cousins brought it every game while at Kentucky. There were no games were he looked unmotivated.
This further shows that Morey knows how to recognize NBA talent. Many posters like myself thought that Cousins was going to be a bust.
Look at all the kids giving themselves a reach around off of a few summer league games. The jury is out, he might be great, he might be good, he might eat himself out of the league. Let's just wait and see......if he plays with Evans, he probably won't get to touch the ball too much anyway. DD
So you're not giving Cousins the DD seal of future big man superstardom that you have previously bestowed on such luminaries as Marcus Pfizer and Michael Beasley ? I bet he's breathing a sigh of relief at having avoided that omen.
Look, the kid has question marks all over his attitude, demeanor, and work ability off the court(fat camp, diet) but the dude can play and will find a spot on a roster regardless. Hell, Ron Artest and Rasheed Wallace have had long semi successful careers in the NBA and won championships each. Teams passed up on him because they thought they could get a quality player ahead of him that wouldnt cause distractions in the locker room. Which Cousins will almost certainly do early in his career. Alot of teams will choose a less talented player with good character any day.
there were too many questions surrounding him. easy to look back in hindsight and decide how he should have been drafted after seeing him in summer league
we need to relax for a second .. this is after all the summer league.... he is going up against centers that are not gonna be in the league .. remember last year dorsey averaged about 15 rebounds and 10 points ... and then didnt play and how jon lucas has a dominating summer league??? lets see how his head holds up and how he does against real competition
