Morey has the entire roster set up for 2012. He grabbed Dwight Howard's best friend for a reason. Dwight has worked out in Houston the last two offseasons for a reason Hakeem Olajuwon is Dwight's daddy. Dwight will be in a Rocket uniform soon.
I've read this several times (last one I read similar to this was something relating to the '09 draft players), can you explain?
The only guys that are under contract in 2012 are Lowry, Scola, and Martin (and Marcus Morris, depending on whatever contract he gets)... which comes out to about $28 million total on the books for that season. Everybody else either has a team option or just aren't under contract that year. Assuming they try to move Scola's contract, which I don't think there's any doubt they will, then this team is going to have a ton of flexibility during that offseason.
I think Scola may get amnesty cut. The cap has no where to go but down and we are all ready right at the cusp of the luxury tax line of the old agreement. The owners want to usher in a area of good players getting cut , released, bought out, how ever they end up trying to frame it. The theory is that a solid player gets cut because of cap reasons, then another team who is way under the cap say like Kings or Bobcats could pick up that good player at a discounted price intern increasing their talent level.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/lets-trad...ium=rss&utm_campaign=lets-trade-dwight-howard Let’s Trade Dwight Howard Rockets don't have a chance.
Rockets never had a chance to begin with. Other teams can offer top draft picks, future star prospects, or lesser stars. Unless Dwight wants to go to Houston, Rockets are not in the running for him or any other of the top, top tier stars. We are better off trying to a borderline star like Randolph, Ellis, or Aldridge.
If we were to get Howard, we can say goodbye to Patterson and maybe even Morris. They are our 2 most valuable assets on this team.
Uh, I'm pretty sure Morey's had it bad for Courtney Lee since before the 2008 NBA Draft, when Lee was coming out of Western Kentucky. Had the Magic not taken Lee at #22, the Rockets were ready to pounce on Lee at #25, if not trading up a spot or two. The fact that Lee HAPPENED to be good friends with both Kevin Martin and Dwight Howard was just a bonus.
I trade all of them except for Lowry. As important as acquiring Howard, the Rockets still need a PG in Lowry to be successful with Howard. Paring up Howard, Lowry and Martin, the Rockets are solid.
Why wouldn't you trade Lowry, are you kidding, you are not even giving up Kevin Martin which is huge. All you have to do with Dwight and Martin is to sign Chris Paul which is pretty damn easy...
