Yeah, the Man With Two Legs was awesome, and the girl was seriously hot, as was the bi girl Patrick was dating who got into Sally. Other high points...All of Jeff's horrible conversations with girls, about buckets of ears, etc. Steve and Jeff's Spider-Man dance, Jeff's mid-office strip while yelling at his 'boys',Steve's speech about cushions, the Melty man, Jeff's classic line: " I'm always nervous, generally. I just fell into the trap of blaming fruit." And any of the many brief, frightening, but hillarious glimpses ino the relationship Jeff has with his mother. I also love the stuff they do like Captain Subtext and replaying conversations from different perspectives. And I will E-Mail you. I only know about 2 seasons. Is it the same cast in the next two? So glad to hear it's still being made, thought it was over...
Just responded to your e-mail. Here's the series homepage, it gives some good quotes, and details about all three series so far, and the one in production. http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/coupling/
yep, just watched my first episode, "Naked". laughed my friggin ass off. havent watched a good sitcom in ages.
Sam, I get BBC America...do you know what time/day it comes on? I always interested in seeing funny shows..
"You have four breasts!" "Are you saying I develop extra breasts when I'm excited?" "Not develop so much as.....acquire." "What in the name of God are you talking about?" I have all 3 seasons on DVD. It's one of the funniest(albeit brief) series I've ever seen. The American remake, on the other hand, was one of the worst ideas in TV history. Fortunately, it didn't kill its British counterpart. Although I am a little worried about Season 4 since Richard Coyle(Jeff) isn't returning.
I didn't really care for the British version either. I saw a couple episodes and it just seemed over the top to me. As an aside, quite a few British sitcoms have been made into popular American shows. All in the Family, Three's Company, Friends, Sybill, Dear John, The Ropers, Too Close for Comfort and Sanford and Son are all examples of British sitcoms re-made in America.
Friends was British? The only one of those that I've heard of is Dear John, and that was dreadful over here.
List of American Re-Makes of British Sitcoms Some of them are loosely based while others are more dead-on, but we've been "borrowing" from British sitcoms for years.
Not to mention that the crew of Fox's NFL gameday show have been borrowing from Monty Python's Four Yorkshiremen for years...
Jeff, thanks for the link, looks like most of them were re-named. I dread to think what some of those are like. A lot of them have performances and characters that I can't believe anyone would try to re-make. I mean, Fawlty Towers? Whoever thought that would be possible to re-create?
We had a thread on BBC shows a while back. We had just seen a few great episodes of coupling, but it's very inconsistent (at least wrt our humor). Two of the female characters are tiresome. A few of the episodes had some of the best comedy I've seen in a while, though. The guys are hilarious. The US show sucked so bad it hurt. The actors/director had no idea what they were doing.
