I just got the beta and the RECOIL is very weird especially on the AK47... Galil might be the better option at this point. Anyways, who else is still playing? I can barely hear footsteps..
I'm still playing. You just need to get used to the recoil. It is still being worked on, but the AK is definitely the better gun. Footsteps are a lot better now than they were. It's also something that it's still being adjusted. Did you turn off the in-game music?
Awesome news (I love E3): the game will be released on August 21st, and will be $15 on Steam/Playstation Network/Xbox Live Arcade (1200MS points for XBLA). I don't know if they'll really be able to keep that release date (Valve is infamous, most AAA developers are), there's still a good bit of tweaking / polishing / features that need to be added. With that said it seems to be almost (if not entirely) exclusively digital distribution, so theoretically they could work all the way up to a couple days prior to release without issues of gold discs and what not. I'll probably pick it up for Xbox and PC at that price point. Gj Valve.
I'm not going to even bother with linking the patch notes; they've been in crunch time since E3 on the game. They have about 2 months worth of patches in this one alone. If you want to read the patch notes they can be found on the link below. To sum up some of the big changes: Nerfed flashes/smokes (they're incredibly overpowered right now), adjustments to movement based off community input, and adjustments to sound. These were the biggest complaints about the game. They also just released a pro version of one of the original maps; it's very good (Nuke). The bigger news is you can pre-order the game right now. It's $13.50 on Steam until release day (21st) and then it'll be $14.99. If you buy on XBLA it'll be 1200MS points ($15), and I believe $12 on Playstation plus. If you pre-order on steam, you get beta access on the 14th (so that lets you play a week before it comes out). This patch will be live by then. http://blog.counter-strike.net/
Love shooters but oddly enough, I never played CS. Played a ton of Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, and recently Battlefield 3. Also Call of Duty and most of its follow ups.
You should give it a shot; the high end community right now is a combination of pro 1.6/source players as well as call of duty. Any new blood to the community is welcome!
Played so much CS:S in high school and still do time to time but I'm pretty excited for this new one. I haven't gotten a beta but I'm still pre-ordering regardless. Plus a new released game will cost 14.99! (13.49 if you pre-order) take that COD!
I'll play with y'all of course. I'm getting it for xbox and PC, but I likely won't play much on my xbox.
Not sure if this has been asked in this thread or not but how is the crouch compared to 1.6? Are you able to peak with crouch? what about crouch-hopping? how about bunnyhopping? i was able to bunnyhop in css similarly to 1.6, hopefully it continues to carry over. thanks for the continued updates seclusion i would have forgotten about this otherwise.
1.6 for me still. Will take a look at GO though. IMO you don't play any CS for the graphics or engine. It's gotta be able to handle great and have balanced game play, but not so balanced that a seasoned player will suffer, cuz let's be honest, when I'm playing against noobs I don't expect to have a KD ratio less than 3
I would say; I'll be able to answer all of those questions better next week. Movement is being adjusted majorly in the coming patch, I'll let you know what I think. You're welcome! I just really want this game to be successful; it's a lot of fun and a great deal. Valve has done a bang-up job as usual.
