I have followed the Rockets through thick and thin since Rudy played. I have watched Francis for five long years. He may be the worst good player ever. The number of fundamental mistakes he makes per game are mind-numbing. I simply can't stand to watch him play any longer, it is simply too frustrating. I have already made a decision, if he is still playing in the TC in a Rocket's uniform, I won't be in the stands watching. Suffering has limits. Unlike, many Francis devotees, I believe his contributions can be easily replaced and the absence of his plentiful mistakes will prove a welcome relief. Respect? Loyalty? Devotion? Please! The Rockets have made him a multi-millionaire. He has experienced a lifestyle reserved for royalty. He has been rewarded far far far beyond his contributions.

If SF put up as many shots as TMac im sure he could go for 50 any given night, and I hope he does. Just for the record, I think this is a VERY BAD IDEA. Therefore, when the time comes, I will be the first one to tell you I TOLD YOU SO. What makes everyone so sure TMAC can run Van Gundy's system? Id bet money that if we break up our backcourt and at the same time, fail to become stronger at the 4, the rox will not make the playoffs next year. Is that the progress you guys want? TMac will drop 30 a night, and Yao will have his usual 12 points and 8 rebounds.......... whose gonna pick up the slack? Im just as disapointed as everyone else that we didnt have a better season, but im just as pleased with the improvement. Our team is young, i say we will have plenty of time to change direction if we need to. I say lets see if we can continue to improve. The Lakers didnt win the Finals the first year they had Kobe and Shaq. What if they would have declared a complete failure and broken them up after two seasons of not winning?

er... so T-Mac drops 30 and Yao has his usual, then what kind of slack are we trying to pick up ??

(And I won't bother to comment that Yao's usual is 12 and 8)

Well if he puts up similar numbers and doesnt make others better, then in my eyes the two are interchangable. Yao is surviving on potential alone. But I still think hes a few seasons away from averaging a double double for the entire season. Yao is not the savior for this franchise, not yet anyway.

While I am equally frustrated by his mistakes, I would be curious to see how he played if his sole goal was to score. I do think he would be an effective 2. He is extremely strong, and would have a definite quickness advantage over every 2 in the league (save AI). Find a big PG to to allow a switch on D and he could be effective for us. However, if we traded him and improved the team I would be just as happy.

Yao averaged 18 and 9 last season. It's going to take him a few more seasons to raise his rebounding average by 1? Interesting.

they are not interchagable. Yao changes the complexition of the game. Teams most of time doulbe team him. Do people double team Howard, i dont think so. Also yao intimadetes people from driving to the bucket.

Steve Francis is a very good player but not leading a team like the Rockets

Well well well...We are talking about bsketball IQ and who has it and who doesn't. All of a sudden Tracy McGrady is the smartest basketball player on the planet and Steve is chopped liver. Le me break it down so you can all understand...
"T-Mac will not change the Rocket Universe, he will only give us another player to look at. He will probably be very good and automaticalyy make the All-Star team for several years to come, but we would still be another two awesome players away from getting a banner in the Toyota Center."

I understand your sentiments, BUT, doesn't a shooting guard need to be a very good shooter, and be able to defend very large players? I think Francis would be "creamed" as a SG in the West, and he just doesn't shoot that well from the outside. Would you want to use a PG to defend the SG's of the league? Probally not.
