Well IMHO doing a Love for BG is a huge downgrade for the Wolves, BG is inferior to Love in every way, and is only a wrong jump away from a season-ending injury ala D-Rose. Plus, dude has a big ego going from number 1 pick and playing his entire life in LA, he doesn't want to play in Minny.

As sacrilegious as it sounds, Lin's fantastic play has convinced me it might be in our best interest to sell high on Harden and trade him and Asik to Minny for Love. Harden has a lot of starpower and is considered to be among the best SGs in the league, so a trade for Love with Asik as sweetener is a lot more palatable. Harden has the perfect skillset for RA's system, and Asik will complement Pekovic's offensive ability really well and probably give them the 2nd best frontcourt in the league, after Dwight and Love.

As for us, Love gives you the perfect partner for Howard, and it allows us to improve the team while keeping both Parsons and Lin, two guys who are useful to the team outside of b-ball (Lin's chinese $$$ and Parsons has connections with Fegan/Dwight). I think JLin does a pretty good Harden impersonation, at 6-3 he's decent at the SG spot and you can have him create while Bev and Brooks hold down the PG spot. We still have Tjones, DMo and Greg Smith to hold down the backup C and PF spots.

Minnesota is an awful franchise. Don't blame Love for not being able to carry a talent-less roster.

He has a decent enough roster around him to expect 8th seed at the very least.

I'd be disappointed if we don't get to see him in the playoffs again this year.

This might not be as far fetch as you think!

If Jones keep on producing and improving at his current rate, his trade value could go through the roof!

Why does everyone want to trade Harden again? Because he doesn't play defense? News Flash, Love isn't a great defender either

    Would you trade:

    Asik, Jones, Parsons for Love

    or

    Lin, Jones, Parsons for Love

Unless you got a third team involved the second scenario is the only one that makes sense because Pekovic is going nowhere.

If Jones keeps going as a 12/10/2 player and Love demands a trade then this is a reasonable package. Giving up Parsons is tough to swallow though

I think the better option would be Lin, Jones, Asik to third team assets to Wolves (Milsap?).

    Beverly/Brooks
    Harden
    Parsons/Garcia
    Love/Casspi/Dmo
    Howard

We could get this done. We have the assets.:)

A few things on that. The Suns have been a bogey team for the Blazers for a while now. No Bledsoe, all role players, but they're still one of the best defensive teams in the league right now.

If Morey could gut the Suns for all their vets + Plumlee that would instantly fix the Rockets D problems.

Back to the Blazers. They've had the softest schedule. They don't have a bench which'll eventually catch up to them. All their starters are firing right now but it only takes one slump among that group to turn things and Wesley Matthews is a very streaky player.

Never going to happen. Harden is here to stay, he basically is the face of the franchise. I think there may be one player we would trade him for and his name isn`t Love.

Love is a great player - but Minny would jump on that Harden for Love deal in an instant. The hardest thing to get in this league is a player that can create his own shot or a wide open shot for his teammates with consistency - and there are only a handful that can do this better than Harden. Both play no defense, but you can hide Hardens deficiencies with a good defensive big - it is harder to hide Loves deficiencies. And Love is way more injury prone so far in his career.

But I also agree - if we want him, we would have to give up Asik, TJones and Parsons. Is it worth it? It would be hurtful but I have to say yes. Love fits our other two stars perfectly and Morey has a knack to find great role players at low prices. And this team looks like a champion:

    Lin/Bev
    Harden/Brooks
    Garcia/Casspi
    Love/DMo
    Howard/Smith

Actually it looks like NBA 2k14 - Howard with 4 great 3pt players. The 2 best rebounders in the game and two elite penetrators - and who cares about defense...

The glaring need if we trade Asik is a decent back up at center. Love played the center position on the last Olympic team. Do y'all think he can play some 5 when Dwight would need to rest?

You can trade Asik/Parsons/Jones/3 1rd for Love and they still would urn it down.

If Love gets traded he will go East the only team in the West who Minny might trade with is the Clippers for Blake Griffin.

A team like Cleveland can very easily beat our offer with something like Waiters/Thompson/Varejao/Bennet/1rd lottery pick for Love.

We can't even come close to that deal.

Why do fans propose these absurd trades? It'd be like fans of the Knicks saying, if we want Harden, we would have to give up Shumpert, Prigioni, and Udrih. Is it worth it? Seems like everyone overvalues their assets.

Lopsided trades do happen, but only in forceout situations. Love's contract has an early termination option in _two_ years and if he exercises it, he's going to have a hell of a lot more appealing options than the garbage offered here.

    This

just because you stack a bunch of mediocre assets, doesn't make your package more attractive.

The way it works, has worked, and will work in the foreseeable future is... It matters where said player wants to go. If the wolves go in the toilet this year they could try to remake the entire team next draft. And if Kevin love WANTS to come to Houston and Morey wants him here he will make the moves to get it done.

And I would assume he has had plans for love and lamarcus set for a long time and already knows if they have interest in becoming that third piece for the rockets from harden and Howard.

I also think a lineup of Howard harden love parsons Lin could beat any current lineup in the league in a 7 game series.

Yeah, but whats the point of making absurd, unrealistic hypotheticals? I could say that LeBron will want to come to LA but not to a crappy team, so he'll demand a trade to the Clippers. But, god-forbid we give up any star power (then LeBron wouldn't want to be here), so how about Collison, Reddick, and Dudley for LeBron?

Fact is that Love is locked in for a while and should he decide to leave, Minny is going to get a lot of appealing offers as he is one of the top players in the NBA. These offers will either include a package of comparable talent or an extreme amount of future assets such as picks & cap space. It won't just be a collection of mediocre talent like you're proposing, since that helps Minny naught.

If Minny trades J Love, they will demand (an probably get) multiple picks plus a rising star.

Which they won't get, because there is nobody out there with the incentive and ability to offer such a trade package.

If they trade Love, it will be because he demands to be traded, and they will have to settle for a subpar return similar to what Utah got for Deron Williams, Denver got for Melo, or OKC got for Harden (good young players and draft picks).

We see this time and time again... stars don't get traded for stars. They get traded for guys with "potential", and for draft picks.

Except the trade worked for Denver and not for NYK. Sometimes guys with "potential" are better than a star player, even if he's not disgruntled and unhappy.

Dwill is half a player he used to be and nobody wants to play with Melo. Harden trade was the only one that worked, but OKC will soon get over it once Lamb starts producing consistently and Adams becomes a starter.
