So I guess everyone else on this team is playing perfectly sound fundamental basketball huh? Yeah let's ignore the fact that we're bottom 5 in defense & Turnovers and have made continuous, back-breaking mistakes which is why we have 19 losses, but yeah keep being delusional about TJ and how he is the main reason for our performance, and yeah he has had a decent career so far as a 10.5 pts & 6 reb rotational forward capable of providing solid offense off the bench. I agree that we can definitely upgrade our PF position but T Jones is not a scrub, especially when our other option D-mo is oft injured.
It very well could be related since salary dumps require sweeteners. You can't dump such a toxic contract to another team and expect them to take it without compensation.
Are you really trying to compare Harden to a scrub like Jones? Harden can get away with terrible defense because he does so much on offense, Jones brings little to nothing to both ends of the court so he can't.
In all honesty I don't believe we're keeping Jones (i.e. he wont sign here in FA so we might as well get something out of him). I could see us getting draft picks or draft pick swaps.
TJ is worth more than a "sweetener" in a salary-dump...and Morey looking to "dump" Brewer is not even a given. That's quite a stretch. Morey got a lot more from Morris and PPatt. He won't dump TJ. ppl here are getting unreasonable, or allowing the unreasonable TJ hata posters to influence them into thinking Morey will dump TJ.
there is an ongoing rate for salary dumps based on the millions and years owed and Brewer's price is more than two second rounders. Esp in this environment when many teams want to have clear books to be able to go after players in free agency. So to absorb Brewer the price is a late first round pick or so. Do you recommend pairing him with our next years pick instead? That would be even worse of a proposal. Since the assets of the Rockets are a few the options are limited.
Yeah go ahead and twist my words from saying "TJones sucks" into "Tjones is the sole reason our season is a disaster yes tjones is sinking this ship on his own he's worse than brian scalabrine shooting 25 shots per game on playing 45 mpg absolutely awful tjones needs to hold his teammates accountable for their lack of production" no you delusional house-wife, I just said he sucks and Harrell is better. Ffs.
The only salary dumps Morey has made were poison pills. Brewer is not a poison pill. Morey won't see a benefit of "dumping" Brewer to the level of including one of his contributing, 1st-rounders as a mere sweetener to include. So, don't bother trying to convince me Brewer is a much needed salary dump.
Doesn't matter what Morrey thinks the rate is the rate and the price is the price. He needs someone else to dump it off. Some other team to pay mr Brewer his millions. If you are arguing that we should NOT dump Brewer that's another story. But the need of a serious sweetener is a fact except if you are willing to exchange his contract for another bad contract. We could keep Brewer for another year and a half and wait till he's expiring that will make his negative value better. Ofc in the meantime Brewer will be taking up 8 million of our capspace and limiting our flexibillity.
If you can't recognize by now that Harrell is already better than Terrence then you haven't watched enough basketball.
I'm not arguing we should NOT dump Brewer or not. I'm saying you are trying too hard to say Morey is looking to dump him. You are treating Morey like a desperate GM. Morey doesn't dump assets, and certainly never at the expense of tossing in another real asset in TJ. He's too good for that. Both Lin and Asik poison pills were actually used as assets (in and of themselves) to clear major capspace for big name free agents. Morey won't view a decreasing $8m contract as a major cap-clearing asset.
ok so you are saying because Morrey doesn't agree with the concept of salary dumps he won't do it. That's great and all but doesn't take away from the fact that Brewer NEEDS to be salary dumped and it's clear as the day. Unless as I said Morrey is willing to take on another bad contract for example Morris. NO expiring contracts and no good players. Just because you have some idea of what Morrey is and does , doesn't make it anything different. The reality is the reality that Brewer is one of the worst contracts in the league. Denying it, putting blinders on , having faith in Morrey's abilities etc etc doesn't change this.
Lol congrats on proving me you're a troll with an IQ of a farm animal that is incapable of having a debate, have a nice day
malakas, What is so hard to understand? I'm saying Morey won't view Brewer's decreasing contract as bad enough to toss in positive asset in TJ for nothing back. Do you realize his salary is $7.6m next year? It doesn't matter if you say it's sooooo bad, you must pay the piper with a real asset...and do it now. And you aren't even looking at the other side. IF, and I say IF, Brewer is such a bad contract, the other team would have to match/dump $8.22m in salary back to us to make the trade work, or be dumb enough to use a Cap-asset like a TPE. (Who has one that big?) In your trade, TJ would add another $2.5m to that. So, that's nearly $11m. You are saying TJ's only value is to get people to take on Brewer's contract with isn't expiring, while TJ might not even stay with them? And you're saying Morey will take all that salary back? How does Morey taking all that salary back help clear space? Sorry malakas, you haven't thought this through.
Jones ain't going anywhere with D-Mo hurt. Not unless we can land another 4 by dealing Lawson and Brewer.
First of all Tpes are not traded they are created. Secondly I'm fairly sure there are many good expiring contracts to match Brewers salary and that Portland at least needs to get to the salary floor. I think they were around 7 million bellow but I haven't "thought it through" because I haven't bothered to check IN DETAIL the amount they are bellow the salary floor. But it is a significant amount around Brew's salary. Nope I'm not saying that this is T.Jones only value. You asked why would people say Jones and Brew's situations may be linked and I gave you an explanation. SWEETENER. As long as Morrey finds a good enough sweetener he can get back an expiring or a tpe which will clear the capspace neccessary for next year or this year even. Secondly the team that will trade for Jones will obviously be interested to resign him. He's a restricted free agent and they will get his bird rights which means control.
The only way I get rid of Jones is if we get either Ryan Anderson or Thaddeus Young. I don't think we're getting rid of Brewer either. Morey will probably settle for a minor trade.
