Along the lines of the school ending stuff, I had the following happen to me this morning: We have pretty muched finished our work for the year. I have a few loose ends that we are tying up, but for the most part we are watching science videos to finish out the last couple of days. This morning my teaching partner went and picked up one of the movies we usually watch at the end of the year called "The Living Desert". I checked roll, did lunch count, and was about to start the movie, but I noticed something a little unusual. I noticed that the movie looked like it was on a generic tape, one like you would use to record in your VCR. Now I have seen the desert movie many times and knew it was on a labeled tape, so I was a little suspicous. I decided to turn the TV away from the class and check it just to make sure. And boy am I glad that I did, when I turned it on it was a video of a woman giving birth. It wasn't like a home video, but like an informational video. It didn't show anything vulgar, but it really wouldn't have had to to get my 5th graders riled up. thankfully none of them saw it, and I went back to the library to return it. Apparently we have 2 copies of "The Living Desert" and one of them was misplaced. I got the 2nd copy and all has been well.
Close call. After reading Night, we watched Schindler's List. I had completely forgotten about the boob scenes. The kid's were too shocked about the holocaust to make a big deal about it.
Seeing naked people is probably pretty low on the list of shocking scenes in Schindler's List. Great movie.
My point exactly. One turd tried to make a big deal about it. His peers called him a sicko, perv, idiot, and moron. I did nothing to stoip them...they actually saved me the time.
Well this was my first year teaching (through the Y)...and I enjoyed it so much I'm going through ACP to get on full-time next year. I'm so looking forward to having this summer relatively off though. 3 1/2 days and counting!
Three days left including today. Kids have taken their last regular test, grades are finished, class is 98% packed, Final exams are prepared, and kids are either watching "Toy Story" or studying. Tough day for me these last few days. Oh yeah, payday tomorrow!!!
Congrats. I remember last year at this time, I was sooo jealous cuz I was about to graduate. HAH! This year, I've been out a week already, but I have to enjoy the summer, as this is my last summer break ever.
We are taking a field trip and a party today and we have half a day tomorrow. Tomorrow is awards ceremony so I'll have about an hour worth of class. I do have to stay until 4:30, but I am effectively through with "summerizing" my room so I'll probably take a 2 hour lunch and then sit in my office and play Sudoku or WoW all afternoon.
I hate all of you. I wanted to beatdown my nephews on Monday when they told me that Wednesday was their last day of school.
I found out that I have about a 1 in 3 chance of getting a summer vacation this year. I am not counting it, but it would be nice. There is also the possibility that I would get a vacation from the the early sept. - mid oct. 2 weeks of standardized testing is done, but we have big wigs from the local district, downtown district, and state coming through our school next week. So the pressure is definitely not off yet. After next week then I should be able to relax a little bit.
Yeah, the girls varisty coach is an old friend of my sisters that we haven't seen in over 10 years. He was the first person to get me drunk and show me p*rn. I love that guy.
...Small world. I've probably met the guy on a few occasions. We used to play Sharlyland (same district). IIRC, they usually are contenders for district champs.
Well, if this is the guy (same name, not all that common), then maybe I'll be making a trip down that way. He didn't remember me upon my first e-mail, but it has been nearly 15 years. Damn I'm getting old.
