oh heck no...nobody remembers the cheap play he did against us in this year's playoffs? he freakin faked a timeout and then while everybody was about to let their guard down....he ran his white ass to the hole and scored a layup ... cheap
I agree with DV. Blake is a decent game manager and a good spot up shooter, but other than that he is 'just a guy' that doesn't hurt your team. He definitely isn't a guy that makes a difference. Lowry brings a lot more to the table. His aggression on both ends of the court potentially makes him a difference maker on a given night. He can attack the basket and get to the line just about any time he wants. This is a great asset to help stop the bleeding when the O starts sputtering. He shows a developing drive and kick game. He pushes the ball better than anyone we have seen in a Rocket uniform in years. And, he is physical plus defender at the PG position. He may be the only PG I have ever seen frustrate CP3 with physical defensive pressure. He completely took Paul out of his game when they played the Hornets late in the season. Because of his aggressive play, Lowry may turn the ball over a little more than Blake and he definitely doesn't shoot the 3-ball as well as Blake, but other than that there is no comparison. Homerism? I don't think so. Lowry is superior to Blake. Bayless scares me a little. I like his athleticism and his offensive skills, but after watching a few games in summer league I have serious concerns about his BBall IQ. Maybe he was just pressing too hard trying to prove he could be a pass first guy, but to me, he looked clueless at times (turnovers, indecision). He reminds me of Steve Francis which is not a good thing, especially at the point, in my opinion.
Screw Steve Blake... Memphis just let go of Hakim Warrick.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4354901 ..get it done Morey! (no he's not Stromile Swift 2.0)
Heard that Portland is heavily shopping Bayless How about a package of: Bayless for Battier Fernandez
yeah, great points. those 2 things aren't major factors or anything. Attributes desired for a RA System PG: #1: Keep Turnovers Low #2: Shoot the 3 well throw in the fact that Blake is about 50 times the passer Lowry will ever be, and there is no debate left. if we had steve blake, and the blazers had kyle lowry, you'd say blake is a superior talent to lowry.
Lowry is complements AB much better. He can play physical against the bigger PG's and run the team just fine.
Lowry complements AB much better. He can play physical against the bigger PG's and run the team just fine. Sorry about the double post. I seriously need to triple check grammar before posting.
They wouldn't even include Bayless in the Hinrich 3 way talks, why would they trade for Battier, Cook or Barry? Battier is great but Batum, Outlaw can man the positions. Every Fernandez deal I see posted gets us Pryzbilla back. With Oden often injured and in foul trouble, why would they give up Pryzbilla? Rudy Fernandez is a solid bench player with potential star written all over him. Again, why would Pritch give him up? ...All this and both teams are in the WC. Why would Morey help out the Blazers. Trade has 0 percent of happening. Or it woulda happened already. Battier to Portland has been talked about for 2 years now, with nothing happening
Blazers could trade Blake easily without moving bigger pieces as he has a small contract. Rudy and Bayless won't be Rockets considering we don't have enough talent to give back. All this and they had the 3rd best record in the West last year, as is. Why shake things up? Portland is a rich team. They don't need Cook's/Barry's expiring, as, they don't care about the LT
Battier is a huge upgrade on Batum and Outlaw(who they want to unload). With the rockets in a transition phase, now is the proper time for a deal for both teams.
He is an upgrade, but let's be real. Get Battier, only to give up your 6th man, a guy who can knock down the 3 (Miller isn't as good), penetrating guard who can create his own shot, in Rudy Fernandez? What sense does that make? Who scores off the bench for Portland after they trade away Rudy?
What Adelman's system requires of a point guard has nothing to do with who is more talented between two players. I stand by my statement that lowry is more talented than blake. Blake is a solid passing point guard that can hit the open 3. He also gets abused on defense by most NBA point guards. Lowry doesn't have Blake's three-point shot, but he is better defensively and unlike blake puts immense pressure on a defense by getting to the rim(and free throw line) at will. Also, lowry is a solid passer in his own right. He ran the rockets offense very well last year when he came off the bench. That is why many fans here want him to be the point guard of the future and not Brooks. He has natural point guard instincts, just like blake.
I agree that FIT should be more important to them now, but if you look at their moves this summer Portland have been very picky in terms of value when trying to get trades done. The Hinrich trade that didn't go through was due to Portland refusing to add in Bayless as part of the deal (If that deal went through Portland would've had Hinrich starting, Blake backup, and Bayless getting 3mpg, but they still refused to add him in the deal).
Exactly they wouldn't even give up Bayless in the Hinrich talks, why would they give up him and Rudy in Battier talks.
if the deal is just battier for fernandez, all of blake, outlaw and webster can score off the bench for you. You could also do battier and landry for fernandez and outlaw. In that case landry, blake and webster are your bench scorers. That said, I agree with you. Getting rudy would be tough. But I think battier for outlaw, and bayless(3rd string on the depth chart and not showing management what they want to see) works well for both parties, as does battier and hayes for outlaw and pryzbilla. Hayes and Pryzbilla are similar players except Pryz is taller and is a shot blocking presence in the paint. The difference between them is made up by the blazers getting the SF they need to guard the opponent's best wing(especially Kobe).
Miller, whitout 3-piont shooting ability isn't the best partner to Roy. Hinrich is the better one, but it was impossibility to got him. So, I think PTB have to trade Rudy, cause he won't get his minutes per game (Miller and Webster will steal it). PTB has albo 9mln Darius' contract, which ends next summer. So, let's get Rudy and Miles' contracts for Battier (I love him, but busines is busines) and Cook. PTB get S5 SF, they need. Rox get s5 SG, replacing TMac, and very usefull Miles' contract in 2010 summer. =>PTB become contender, Rox wait for 2010 hardcore summer.
